Paul Vallone takes credit where credit is not due

You can read the whole sordid tale by clicking the photo.

(They took down the above link but this one is still active.)

BTW, Paulie, this house is NOT in Broadway-Flushing as you claim...

Editors,

It's come to my attention that my copyrighted photo is being used to promote a story about Paul Vallone. (http://www.qgazette.com/news/2015-10-21/Features/Vallone_Pressures_DOB_To_Act_On_Stop_Work_Violatio.html)

This photo was never approved for use by your publication.

Additionally, praising Paul Vallone, who did absolutely nothing to stop this work, is pretty shoddy "reporting". You should be ashamed of your partisanship and lack of actual reporting. Next time Mr. Vallone and his lackeys try to spin any story in their favor, please do more research.

In this case, the credit for bringing the attention of this violation belongs to the QueensCrap blog, Paul Graziano and the Flushing Community. Without them, there is no picture...without them, there are no complaints and without them, another violation is swept under the rug.

Please ensure that the photo and story and removed by close of business today.

Disgusted,

Bill Leahy

Thanks Anthony - I really hope there will be significant financial and other penalties on this one and make an example of this owner / contractor and architect. From what I understand, the owner IS the GC on the job, so he certainly knows what a SWO means.

And as you know, this property is not the only one that DOB seems to be behind the curve on (86-35 Sancho Street, 149-15 33rd Avenue, 138-10 Northern Boulevard all come to mind).

Rebecca / Anthony -

This is a total - and continued - violation of the Stop Work Order at 30-35 150th Street. Complaints have been sent in all weekend and I'm sure that the owner / architect / contractor knew that no one would bust them over Columbus Day weekend.

I just sent another to 311, reference # below.

1-1-1163742491

WHEN IS THE OWNER / ARCHITECT / CONTRACTOR GOING TO BE FINED / ARRESTED FOR BLATANTLY FLOUTING THE LAW?

Thank you for posting this, Crappy.

It's so obvious that Vallone doesn't even know where the violation is occurring that it's comical. That's what happens when you pretend to care about the problems going on in your Council District.

Add to that someone who brags about living in the neighborhood for almost two decades (when he really had been living in Astoria until 2006, waiting to run for the family Council seat), and the fact that Vallone doesn't know where Broadway-Flushing is located should be pretty embarrassing. But it's not, because he doesn't care.

Hats off to Senator Avella and his staff for the assist on this. And please keep an eye out for the *real* press on this story from the Queens Chronicle, Queens Ledger, NY1, Tsing Tao and the Epoch Times, who actually showed up to the press conference on Monday morning - not the Queens Gazette, whose tagline on the masthead reads:

The Weekly Community Publication Dedicated To Bringing Our Readers A Vital Locally-Oriented View Of The News

That "locally-oriented view" would be from the stink-eye Astoria perspective, obviously.

Barsamian, the publisher of the penny-saver Gazette, is such a Vallone ass-kisser, it's scary Now he doesn't even have a full-time editor anymore. That longtimer, Jason Antos, now shows up 2-3 times a week at the Gazette while sharing his time being an Ed Braunstein flunky.

This is high comedy. Hilarious.

It is so sad what has become of the 'fourth estate' these days and what passes for 'reporting'.

Years ago with was Jayson Blair making up stories for the NY Times. The dirty little secret no one talked about was that it was much more common than anyone could guess.

I am shocked, SHOCKED!! that 'reporters' do no actual fact checking or legwork before putting their names on a byline.

It wasn't so long ago that being known for being hard working and honest was a plus. Now you are a sucker.

Anonymous said...

Let's see if Barsamian will have the decency of running a correction in next week's Gazette.

Thank you Crappy, Avella, Graziano and everyone who kept on calling in complaints. Now lets keep the pressure on and take more photos of other sites.

Nothing new about Vallone lying. Last night at the "We Love Whitestone" civic meeting he all but took full responsibility for the proposed high school in Whitestone being axed. He also made it sound as if he is not solidly behind the proposed high school in Bayside. He made a comment about how someone said to him "you stopped the high school being built in Whitestone, so maybe you can stop this one". What a piece of,work he is.

Vallone rarely does anything on his own , but he is adept at stealing credit like the shifty pol that he is.
P.V. Work for his constituents? You gotta be kidding. He's got to be dragged into any action he takes.
Now if his constituents put him on retainer, like his develops clients, he might take their complaints early.
It's our bad luck to have a developer's lobbyist "representing" us.

Jerry Rotondi said...

More Valloney-baloney, as usual!

Take all of your 311 reference numbers and contact the inspector general at DOI to investigate.
That's the way to speed things up. Then contact Greg Mocker. I have had superior results following this formula.

If you expect any backwoods reporter, let alone some that pass for first line, to do the job properly then you are not capable yourself.

Anonymous said...

The problem here is that we have a city councilman who is not interested in representing his constituents as eagerly as he is serving as a developers's lobbyist. Vallone won't eat his oatmeal until his face gets pushed into the bowl.
Then he bleats out, "Look mamma, I finished my cereal".
Leave a pie to cool on an open window ledge, and Vallone will steal it. Stealing credit is parr for the course for a crooked politician.

Vallone is married to the building mob. He's a developers' lobbyist!

If Julia Harrison were representing us, this kind of shit would not be going on. She managed to close down a lot of crooked projects in her day, and put a lot of crooked DOB inspectors in jail.
WTF is Vallone doing besides coaching soccer games? Vallone may be the dumbest of his siblings, but you voters are even more stupid if you re-elect him.

Anonymous said...

Never mind what happens. With the dumb voters Vallone will be elected to a second term.

Vallone does not even live in Broadway, yet he claims to be a member of BFHA.
Let's see what BS he's going to sling tonight at BFHA's membership meeting, if he shows up.
Want to have some jolly entertainment? It's politicians night. Please attend. Refreshments will be served after the event.

It is what voters are willing to perceive as the truth , not the real truth itself , that a politician cares about.
Spread a lie often enough and loud enough and it becomes Gospel.
Dr. Goebels, chief of the third Reich's propaganda machine, knew this and used it very well.
Goebels is the father of political advertising, like it or not.
Vallone is one of his PR playbook followers.
The clubhouse machine runs Queens as efficiently as any dictatorship in history. Queen's idiot voters are like putty in their hands.

There is NOTHING comical about a grim, crooked politician lying and manipulating his electorate. Vallone is for the builders, not the neighborhood! But if you voters continue to behave like sheep, then expect to be shorn! Vallone is a political mafioso, intent on keeping his job as consigliere to the real estate industry. His city council seat enables him to do it better.
The Vallones ruined Astoria. Just wait and see the slow burn he has started in northeast Queens. Extinguish the forthcoming blaze at the polls. This political thug needs to be stopped before he can complete the forest fire.

What adjective best describes Vallone?
Thug? Brute? Egotist? Crooked? Two faced? REBNY pal? Heavy handed? Dumb? Vengeful? Bully? Habitual liar? Credit stealer? Lazy? Disinterested? Manipulative? Underhanded? Bribed?
All of the preceding?
Go on, you dummies, re-elect the devil!

wait, let me get this straight. a politician took credit for a result that they had nothing to do with in the first place? sounds like the American way to me.

Is Avella challenging Stinky in 2017?

I'm still laughing over this. Hoping someone will bring this up to him at the BFHA meeting of he deigns to attend. Seems like people just kiss his ass there and then take to commenting behind his back here.

I see most posts are focusing on the politician for this blog entry. Being mad about a politician lying and taking credit for another person's work is like being mad at a baby for crying or a mosquito for biting you. It's what they do. It's their nature. You can just expose them.

How about the dumba$$ 'journalist/reporter' who put their name on this story? If I knew you could be a reporter with so little effort, so little integrity, I would have done it years ago! Is it any wonder that most newspapers are laying people off and cutting back on their papers due to loss of subscribers/readers/advertisers?

Good riddance to bad rubbish!

The entire offending article - one of the greatest blunders in journalism ever - still lives for all to see on the Gazette's web page:

http://www.qgazette.com/

(Click on "Print Edition" at the top.)

Publisher Tony Barsamaniacian. You can run but you can't hide.

Vallone's wife is of Armenian decent. The Publisher Barsamanian is Armenian. Surely there is a connection.

"I also once again thank the neighbors in the Broadway-Flushing community for being ever vigilant and working with my office to ensure that we can do all we can to protect the character of our neighborhoods.”

Talk about a load of CRAP. Posturing, delusional dude.
The whole area is turning into some banana republic and he is talking about character of the neighborhood?
Needs to be voted out ASAP.

The rest have his number but put up with him just for show.

Did anyone make an archive link to the articles before they were taken down?

Also, the photographer can sue for restitution for his photograph being used without permission, credit, or recompense. A long running newspaper like the Queens Gazette should know better.

There was no byline because it wasn't a story, it was a press release from Vallone, which included the photo.
