From Eyewitness News:

Two men were shot as they were leaving a house party overnight Saturday.

Around midnight on 28th Avenue in Bayside, following an argument with a man at the party, the first victim, 27, was shot in the torso. He was taken to New York Hospital Queens and is in critical condition.

The second victim, 23, also suffered a gunshot wound to the torso and was taken to North Shore Hospital, also critical.

The nature of the dispute is unknown. There have been no arrests.

The house was rented for the party.

The address? 213-45 28th Avenue.

No shortage of listings in Bayside!

AirBnB: Bringing a bit of the ghetto to Bayside, one house party at a time... Vibrant! Diverse!

Math, logic and a daughter in the house, throwing parties
No baby daddy mentioned, figures, loves her iPhone 6? And shoot outs
What could possibly go wrong.

She says no more than 10 people in the house and she'd be in the 4th bedroom but where was she last night? This seems like a divorcee got the house in the divorce and can't make the payments.

I'll bet drug money bought that house,i did work on a house by the gables
The 2 women who bought it spoke no English and looked like they dressed from a poorbox,
America is still great, from south America to the Bronx to bayside gables
Only in America Tony Montana.

Heard that night in the ghetto: 'she be real purty!. I's goin to dat pahr-tay and I be carryin'!'

i'm guessing the 200 guests didn't take off their shoes.

or maybe they did, except for the two who were shot, hence the shooting.

Uncanny timing. Isn't the "host" supposed to present. And here we have a bunch of dopes turning their homes into a lame imitation of niteclub for things like children birthday parties and grade school graduations or whatever the hell this one was for that they feel the need to have the obligatory fight or gun going off too.

What's disturbing is the reach of the sharing economy is reaching familial towns like bayside that you have to wonder how many houses in other towns are pulling this shit. Airbnb and the business model it's based on must be vanquished.

Maybe it's just me but when a guy throws himself a party makes me think he has mommy issues, blow out the candles Joel, you 30 year old fool so we can sing Happy Birthday and you can open your presents,oh look a New Tonka Truck

It's called a HOUSE PARTY. they rented out the house and charged guests an entrance fee of somewhere between $20 and $30 cash to enter. Happens all the time in the Bronx. They blast music until 4am and take over the street. Let's say the entrance fee was $25 that's $5000. The guy is lying that it was only a birthday party. That was to get sympathy from the public. This is yet another ghetto means of generating non taxable income. They might not have rented it either, just given a piece of the action to the owner. so, she was in on this and might do it every weekend. My guess was that illegal drug sales were going on. A cash bar, the entrance fee pays for set ups, DJ and maybe some food. Lets see who made money besides the birthday boy and alleged home owner- the DJ, the dealers, maybe a couple of hos, the caterer, security/bouncers and cleaning person.
The party's over.
until this dies down.

So how much will this affect any regulation of airbnb

Anonymous said...

Living in this neighborhood for over 50 years. this must stop.... bars all over bell blvd, no parking, now shootings at a rented house for a a birthday celebration. Now perhaps a family has to bury their son ??? Disgraceful......Changing face of Bayside has got to CHANGE !

Anonymous said...

Where is the leadership in Bayside? It used to be a prominent neighborhood. You can't park on Bell Blvd. anymore and it's getting more and more ghetto by the day. WTF????

Anonymous said...

Have these neighbors ever complained?? Does anyone care???

Anonymous said...

I live in those areas. Yes don't like the shooting and don't like the noisiness.. but renting these mansion out temporary is normal. I also have a friend who live out in the hamptons, and these airbnb is nothing new and it's normal. They have the rights to rent it out. But to have constant noise, that is something neightbors will complain.

And every politician including Stinky will turn a blind eye to this nonsense that is tearing apart our neighborhoods. Just like the proliferation of "Day Care " centers and "Houses of Worship" in residential blocks and massage/ spas all over our commercial districts ( and some in residential areas too) Rememebr them on Election Day .

Charge Joel as an accessory to attempted murder with jail time and a fine to send a message to anyone who wants to rent out for party's
Hope the home owner has good insurance,I see a Huge Lawsuit coming.

Take off your shoes please, guns are OK.
Who the heck allows this type of nonsense to go on?
On the radio they mentioned high end area however they did not mention low end, low class people.
Anything for a buck!
People please note that's why illegal activities attract crime, massage parlors, gambling parlors, house parties in residential neighborhoods should all be reported and closed down.
We are not paying the ever increasing taxes so we can be afraid in our own homes.
Politicos please take note, because people are getting fed up with your lackadaisical attitude towards quality of life issues.
You know who you are.

200 people in the basement?

Anonymous said...

"but renting these mansion out temporary is normal."

Wrong. Not for parties. Not for 200 people. How about the noise regulations?
The problem is the city. Instead of making a truckload of money off the illegal activities that take place, they target motorists. Easy prey.

This MILF says she is a health nut.
Oh boy, lead poisoning is not healthy girl!
Plus she is a teacher, Board of Ed, so money shouldn't be a big problem for her.
Some teacher, shaping young minds. Sounds like she needs a man.
Sorry woman, but I have to agree with one of the comments above, there will be a lawsuit coming. You asked for it!

Was this individual the middle class they were concerned about when they cried about the fines that will effect their "hosts" and their business model. The model that just lets anybody start an account. That doesn't do oversight and sends gangs of lobbyists to intimidate officials and shut down any regulations.

It's over airbnb.

Um...

Frankie Marchione, 20, was at the party and said most of the festivities were in the basement — and that’s where the shooting occurred.

***People paid between $15 and $25 to get in, he said.***

***Alcohol was served on the first floor — but only those 21 and over got to go upstairs.***

Even though the organizers had hired rented security guards to patrol the crowd, it quickly got out of control, Marchione said.

Ms. Daisy better lawyer up. The lawsuits will not stop coming and no insurance is going to help her. I guess her plan was to raise money to keep the house... Well forget about that. Time to sell. Maybe the proceeds will cover your legal bills. Probably not. I live in the neighborhood and do not feel sorry for Daisy in the least. If you cannot afford the house, you do not engage in illegal house parties that terrify your neighbors and put people's lives at risk. You sell and move on. It is just a house.

Where were the neighbors?! I live two blocks away and if 200 people showed up for a party I can guarantee that my calls to 911 would be of an urgent nature. Seriously Daisy, shame on you. How could you let any of this go on? And curses on Airbnb and the city council as well. AirBNB is just another scam tech company looking to skim the riches off of local assets that it never built and has no stake in. They could not care less about the destruction they cause, as long as it is forgotten about and they get to continue skimming. As for the useless City Council, it is pretty easy to pass a law that says if you plan to use your house for for-profit parties, you had better have insurance, security and limits on numbers of people. In addition, the fines for failing to have just that should be devastating. This would probably mean so long to for-profit house parties.... Which is OK by me.

Ms. Daisy, do your neighbors a favor. Liquidate and get out of town. If you run fast enough you might beat out some of the lawyers chasing after you. Probably not.

Throwing parties in a house and cover charges at these parties are not new. Maybe to Bayside? When my sister went to St. Johns 8 years ago this happened every weekend in that area.

"According to a witness, about 200 people were at the party, which took place in basement of an apartment which the upstairs owners had rented out."

200 people show up and no phone calls to the police?
24/7 security in the area and they consider this normal?
Something is fundamentally wrong with this picture.
You cannot rent out your home for drinking, partying to complete strangers.
Of course the gang bangers showed up packing, what exactly did they expect?
Normal, law abiding citizens don't have guns on them unless they are licensed and don't settle arguments by shooting up the place.
The police should find and lock these people up, including the homeowner who is the most responsible for what happened here.

No, they get shot in the parking lot of a gun show.

The more bullets flying...the more people dying.

There are a bunch of us out here (admittedly of a certain age) that don't understand ANY of this-- renting a private house in a residential neighborhood for a party? Some hooker in the 4th bedroom who is supposed to "help you with New York"? Huh? I guess that's "code" for something? Best of luck to future generations. Bayside was a nice place growing up in the 60s.

Anonymous said...

Not a gun advocate, but seems to me that most shootings occur(ed) at places that are declared gun free zones.
People are the problem, not guns.
Remember the Happy Land fire? How many people died because of one nut job?
He used gasoline.
However it does not seem to be fair that here in the city we have the strictest gun laws on books and all the criminals are packing.
Regarding this incident seems da hood moved to Bayside, nice, quiet, high end neighborhood.

Anonymous said...

the private security may have been given some goodies or cash from the party to keep things quiet. Dam. I was right on every point. House party- pay cash to enter, paid bouncers/security... alcohol sales, drug sales, hos.

I can understand why the neighbors are reluctant to complain to 311, it takes a long long time to get through to someone. and if those making noise find out, they (the thugs ) can target the complainers to menace and threaten them.

Joe said...

This proves gun laws and "stand down and retreat laws" are not only useless but make things worse. What happened here is unarmed neighbors were scared to death to call 311 because the pimps, drug dealers and gang criminals have all the guns. These law abiding homeowners know they can not legally defend themselves from retaliation when the cops aren't around.

This is only going to get worse.
Ever since this New Mayor we see this new type of BRAZEN ballsy criminal activity and behavior much like Central American country's and parts of eastern Europe. Drug dealers, gangs or pimps may soon run ALL the city streets like in Columbia, Brazil and Eurasia, oh how great !! This mayor, Governor and police commissioner better bite this in the ass real quick (never happen) or at least relax the firearm and castle doctrine (justified homicide) statutes so at least the good people can protect themselves in their own homes when the cops aren't around. IT WORKS because they dont have this shit going on in states like Texas because every law abiding citizen is allowed to be armed to the teeth !! Its seems all the western hemispheres garbage comes straight to Queens and other "sanctuary" city's like iron nails to a magnet. Id say the mentally ill mayor and his progressive leftist bullshit has created a giant criminal magnet

Anonymous said...

@Joe: NYC has very restrictive gun laws, but it has good, strong castle laws and pretty good self defense laws.

ladies & gents, don't be wimps, call 911

-- do a search for nyc.gov large party and this is what you get:

Noise from Large Party or Large Crowd

You can report large, loud parties with the potential for danger. These parties are often fee-based, have speakers outdoors, and spill beyond the actual party location due to the size of the crowd.

Call 911 to report noise from a large party or large crowd. ###
