DOT hogging up municipal parking spaces

From the Times Ledger:

Dozens of angry Court Square residents joined City Councilman Jimmy Van Bramer (D-Sunnyside) to call on the Department of Transportation to restore nearly 190 public parking permits that were withdrawn from the neighborhood. After a policy change, DOT officials significantly decreased the number of monthly parking permits and began using the public spaces to house agency vehicles and materials.

“Parking is precious in Long Island City and to take away these much-needed spaces is dead wrong,” Van Bramer said. “What has been done can be undone. We are calling on the agency to give back these parking spaces to the hardworking residents of Long Island City who deserve it.”

Oh so now Jimmy realizes the impact all of the excessive overdevelopment is having on his district. Should have thought of that before developers put their hands in his pocket. REAP WHAT YOU SOW.

Look at the william street / maiden lane area in Manhattan. It's full of DOT vehicles plus NYPD Traffic vehicles.

Then why did you vote to approve the variance sought by the Wolkoff family to build two 40+ story towers at the former 5 Pointz site?
Duh! Didn't you figure out that the over congestion of the area would be made even worse by your cowardly action?
I guess the $10,500 (chump change) you got in campaign contributions from the Wolkoff family clouded your judgement.
Not enough parking spaces now? There will be less soon. Your hand wringing is as phony as your smile, Councilman Jimmy.

Waddayawant? The councilman is a "bottom".
He assumes any position that a developer asks .

It's called an "entitlement". It exists all over the city. This will never change. Those who make the rules never have to follow them.
