Has anyone else out there heard this?

Hey Crappy,

I almost forgot but was quickly reminded this past Saturday night of illegal parties happening near flushing meadows on every Saturday night of the summer. The parties go until the hours of the AM. I'm in Kew Gardens Hills but it sounds like its down the block from me. Curious if anyone in the surrounding areas hear it.

Don't call 9\11
Mayors orders, let the kids blow off steam.

Sorry, not enough cops to deal with quality of life infractions. You will just have to deal with it.

The park has to be gated shut overnight. But don't think that's possible given the size of it.

I think I saw DiBlasio and Chirlane dirty dancing at the one on May Day.

That Car in that pic should not be.

The last three weekends I heard it in North Flushing near Bowne Park.
At first thought it was coming from a few blocks away and went looking at 2AM only to realize when the wind blew harder from the west the music got louder. This has been going on for the last three years and the NYPD should stop this "Crap'!

Yup. I live across the GCP from this crap. Soon it will be every night. You have to keep calling the cops. I call about every half hour after midnight.

Also, use the 3-1-1 phone app. That is tracked and can't be dismissed the way a phone call can.

you can make online anonymous noise complaints.

Like the good socialists they are.

I also live in Kew Gardens Hills. There were firecrackers going on and on about 2 a.m. last night, and disgusting music. It was so clear that it sounded like it was in my own backyard, but a glance out the window proved that wasn't so. Now I read here that it's taking place in Flushing Meadow Park. Yeah, that IS a hangout for the lowlifes. Where were the cops?

These rubes are basically bringing the niteclub vibe outdoors. Do people really need that much amplification?

A lot of times I would see these vehicles just suddenly turn it up to 11 and every car alarm would sound. These speakers obviously are not meant to enjoy music but to annoy people and it's oppressive to people's right to relax at home or outside of them or in their backyards.

Really that car in that photo should not be.

I hear it some nights in the Kissena Park area of Flushing.

The worse noise offenders by far are the planes flying out and into LGA from 6:00 am to midnight. At least, 311 takes park complaints, but it does not accept airplane noise complaints.

"The worse noise offenders by far are the planes flying out and into LGA from 6:00 am to midnight"

I agree and there is something you and others should do. Make your complaint heard at NY/NJ Port Authority planenoise.com
Also read these two sites dedicated to airplane noise prospectparkquietskies.org
queensquietskies.org.
Sign the petitions, make phone calls to your "electurds" and remember the noise when you vote in November.

It was suggested that the park be gated shut. We have a small park nearby that has gates, but the Parks Dept. refuse to lock those gates. They intentionally keep it open as "a benefit to the community".

The cops have always refused to take noise as a serious complaint - even when their staffing was significantly higher.

There was a car that passed by our house the other day from which the "music" sounded like an explosion. It was so loud that it toppled a stack of books that I had in the attic!

Things might be different if cops were required to live within NYC. Let them hear this shit day after day, night after night, year after year. I bet there'd be enforcement then.

They do the same thing in Jamaica too.

It's Sunday night 9PM May 10 and the music is booming again. I will call 311 and see what happens. It's ridiculous this can happen over and over again. This thug music and the planes from LGA are making living in North Flushing precarious and I can't wait till I move away from this "Crap".

I'm on the fence with this.
If you kick them out"
1-WORSE will take over the park.
2-These harmless inner city urban youth have no place to go and will spread out on street corners, trash, noise, pissing. etc. Things may be much worse perhaps they can turn the noise down in exchange for leniency.

We did the same thing as kids at the Bow Wow, Pizza City, The many "Crickets" under Cross Bay Blvd, Forest Park etc --only no 1000 watt amplifiers back then. Car stuff was 25 watts tops or ghetto blasters

Calling 311 is useless. All they do is enter it into a tracking system for metrics. You need to call the local precinct and tell them there is loud music and drag racing. Mention that you have kids who are being kept awake. Keep calling until you annoy them enough for them to do something about it. Also use the 311 app. The app requires a response from the precinct even to the point of reporting back to you which officers responded at what time. And the response IS tracked.

Yes....I too heard it Saturday, with my windows all closed. around 2:30am. I live near Bowne Park also. I contacted Paul Graziano..wanted to know when it stopped. - 4:14am.

I'm sorry, Chris Russo, but the 311 app is equally useless. If they even investigated at all, the bullshit response is usually "witnessed no evidence of a violation". This makes our legitimate complaints appear to be unfounded and get the cops off the hook.

How about we give the cops body cams and see what they really do?

Crusseau said...

Several times on the app it was reported back to me which officers responded.

How do I get an invitation?

I can't believe that people are actually suggesting locking people out of the park at night.

Crack down on those blasting music so loud it can be heard outside the park. Don't propose solutions that will ruin things for law abiding citizens taking a walk at night.

Yawn.

"Yawn."
Can't wait till you have a noise problem.

No one is advocating locking people out of parks during operating hours. Per the parks website -
http://www.nycgovparks.org/rules/section-1-03
Parks close at 1am. These morons usually start around that time. Sometimes earlier. Locking the park at 1am would at least allow most people to get a decent nights sleep.

Councilperson Vanessa Gibson is the chair of the public safety commission. Thereare ten others on the committee. Send them all your complaints and demand more cops and civilians be hired. The squeaky wheel gets the grease.....

There's one very important stipulation to the 1AM park closing that needs to be mentioned: "unless other open hours are posted at any park." Most of Queens' small parks and playground have posted closing times of dusk or 9PM.

I hear it right now! I went driving for an hour and couldn't find them until I googled it and found this article! I am near bowne park and I have been hearing this every weekend in the summer for years!
