Be grateful you don't live next to this

Hi Crappie,

A couple weeks ago, one of my neighbors here in Elmhurst decided to decorate his lawn with one of those illegal garbage bins. I guess this is legal because the bin is on private property, so Sanitation cannot remove it (?!- I have reported it to 311, to no avail).
To make matters worse, this neighbor is a slob to begin with (see the attached photo of his front lawn on a given day). The bin is ALWAYS overflowing, even though he claims that the company picks up clothing regularly. Ugh!

Signed,
OGCLE

I bet he keeps those clothes for his other personalities.

In fact, I have seen people steal from those bins. Trash can be treasure these days, especially since shame is dead. Anybody seen the free for all by Letterman's dumpster on the news?

Where is this dump and who is this asshole?

This is low life third world Elmhurst. Waddaya expect?

The "dump" is called Elmhurst, former cocaine Capitol of America.

Get in touch with your elected officials - keeping them tied up with this crap makes it difficult to spend time with developers.

Share their dodging this issue with crappy.

Demand that your City Council Rep takes action on this!
Call NY1 News too. That usually helps.

Wow! I wonder how much the owner is paid to keep that bin in his property? What a mess! From the pictures, it looks like the owner doesn't care about other things too.

I have a neighbor like that, as well. Guess the "dressing up" of our neighborhood is why our property taxes have risen so much!

He getting paid by these people?

That must have been the dumpster next to the Mike Douglas theater dumpster-- the stars of 70s didn't have very good hygiene, you know.

Call the recycling bin company and ask them to collect more frequently. Make sure that everyone on your block calls the company and that your elected officials write them a letter.

This is at the corner of Woodside and 74th Street. I am not home during the day, but I've been told that folks "shop" in this bin all day long.

Oh, I don't know...it might come in handy the next times my toilet breaks down. I can take a dump in the dumpster.

Legally, this is known as an "attractive nuisance"---call 311 and contact office of local political hack--owner is responsible as they maintain it on their property. Owners are pigs and should also contact Sanitation Dept and FDNY if the bin poses possible fire hazard--hey, that's an idea....
