A man accused of stealing an elderly woman’s Laurelton family home with a fake deed transfer has been arrested and charged, according to District Attorney Richard Brown.
Darrell Beatty, 49, allegedly swiped the house earlier this year and then promptly moved into the three-bedroom Tudor residence with his two sons, Brown said.
As of Tuesday afternoon, Beatty was awaiting arraignment in Queens Criminal Court on charges of grand larceny, criminal possession of stolen property, criminal possession of a forged instrument, falsifying business records and scheme to defraud. If convicted, he faces 15 years in prison.
“This is a particularly disturbing case,” Brown said. “This woman’s home — her sanctuary filled with the memories of three generations — was allegedly taken from her with the filing of a phony deed. The defendant is alleged to have stolen the victim’s home with the stroke of a pen.”

Give him the max sentence. No leniency. This thief knew exactly what he was doing. He ruined this poor woman's life. Lock this scumbag's kids up with him they are tainted with his genes and stupidity

That is disgusting. I hope he gets the maximum penalty. I feel bad for his sons to have him as a father. I hope its not too late for them to learn and grow from this and not become another blight in society
What gets me he has the nerve to come to court to fight his eviction. He stole this ladies home with fake papers. What was he bringing to court to show he should be their? When he was getting arrested his hands looked empty to me. He thought he was going to get a way with it. I think he and his children need to be in jail for a minimum of 10 years. He is a jackass!

All this is true, and what also is true is that the ability to leave a valuable asset (her house) unoccupied, un-alarmed, and vulnerable to theft and vandalism hasn't been a good idea for quite a while now.
This happens more often than known. Garden apartments are targeted in Springfield Gardens on 140 have across from The Verizon Building. The prior owners jailed now sold each of the 28 buildings to separate owners. Buildings were foreclosed,the deeds don't hold up in COURT Some of the buyers do not know that they have no access to boilers or cellar
