Meaningless legislation of the month

From the Daily News:

After the beating death of 3-year-old Jeida Torres in a Brooklyn shelter, a City Councilwoman is introducing legislation requiring homeless families to be shown a video and given information about domestic violence before being admitted to a city shelter.

Under the bill, sponsored by Councilwoman Elizabeth Crowley, the Department of Homeless Services would have to show videos and distribute brochures on both intimate partner violence and child abuse.

Shelter residents must be schooled on “what behavior will not be tolerated,” while victims will be more likely to realize they can seek help, Crowley said.

What a waste. Do you think someone that commits domestic violence will just change from watching a video. Really.

If some of these low life folks need to watch a video telling them exactly what should not be accepted in a shelter, they should not be accepted in a shelter.

"Violence Madness"

More wastefulness by leaders.

"...what behavior will not be tolerated.."

Engage in that behavior and they'll be evicted? Where to?

Here's where:

And watching a video is going to stop some animal from beating their child to death? This is what happens when you elect a brain dead numbskull into office. Sounds like she is starting to accept the homeless warehouse "comming soon to a neighborhood near you" attitude. Since she is a lame duck, I bet she is house shopping already.

But, you do not understand.

This is not for the victims of abuse, but for the politically connected film maker, who will undoubtedly have plenty of footage depicting everyone who had a hand in passing the legislation, to say nothing about renting the space to show if from someone politically connected and of course, the politically connected that are running this program and ... well you get the picture.

Honest Graft for party stalwarts that will be manning phone banks in October.

So you folks are anti-shelters, and also anti domestic violence education?

As with most comments on here, these make absolutely no sense. How could meterials designed to combat violence like that hurt?

It doesn't hurt, it's just a waste of time and money, just like the shelters.

She can run for a third term, and will likely win as the constituency is brain-dead.

My bad. She has run for that office so many times I lost count. Feels like she has been in there forever (or at least too long).

She ran twice in 2008. June (special election - lost to Como) and then November when she won. Then again last year. So, she's been campaigning for a long, long time. Our sentence isn't over quite yet.

You forgot 2001 when she won primary but lost the general election.

All these lowlife western queens politians will soon be replaced by lowlife chinese politians. Either way the good people lose.

Dizzy Lizzy Crowley and politicians like her, meaning the brain dead ones, think that they can introduce meaningless legislation for any problem just so it looks like they are working. DUMP THIS IDIOT!

Crowley's just another nitwit pol who thinks she can legislate any problem away. Except she's probably the biggest nitwit of them all. Heard her speak at a press conference two years ago, wow is this woman dumb or what?

Crowley isn't dumb. She's connected. That's why our sentence isn't over yet.
