Vallone minds work in interesting ways

From the Queens Courier:
Councilmember-elect Paul Vallone has picked the team he’ll take to City Hall in January, The Courier has learned.

The seven-member staff consists mostly of longtime supporters and includes two former employees of Queens elected officials and the aunt of a local assemblymember.

The incoming lawmaker appointed Jonathan Szott as his chief of staff, snatching the top aide from his term-limited brother, Councilmember Peter Vallone Jr.

He is also taking Michael Yon from his part-time gig at Assemblymember Ron Kim’s office to work constituent services and community outreach in the Korean communities.

Both workers received blessings from their former bosses before the switch.

The hires were finalized last week, the freshman legislator said.

They include Communications Director Lionel Morales, Director of Constituent Services/Treasurer Vito Tautonico and part-timers Breeana Mulligan and Ahmed Nazar.

Kate Boehme, the aunt of Assemblymember Ed Braunstein, will also help part-time in the communications department. Boehme and other members of Braunstein’s family helped a lot with campaigning, Vallone said.
Not really much of a surprise here. Well, except that he will apparently be the first council member to have a treasurer... This, however, is hilarious:
Also up in the air is where the incoming councilmember will work.

The Flushing branch of the family’s law firm at 25-59 Francis Lewis Boulevard will close after five years, as Vallone prepares to transition into a full-time elected official.

High hopes of transforming the office into his City Council headquarters may be dashed since the bathroom is not yet wheelchair accessible.
So, hold on. You're closing your law office because you became a council member? Does this make any sense? One would think that the law office would remain open, with other attorneys taking over the work. That's what a "small business owner" would do. Well, unless of course, the law office, the Lions Club and the Clinton Democratic Club were only founded as vehicles for P.V. to get name recognition to run for Council. But that couldn't possibly be the case, now could it?
The lawmaker-to-be said he has already gotten commitments from the city’s School Construction Authority officials, saying they will move away from building a school in Whitestone.

And while it is too late to change plans for a Bayside school at the former Keil Bros. site — something Vallone said he opposed, despite other claims — the city pledged to keep the school zoned for School District 26 only, Vallone said.

“It’s still an unfortunate location, but that’s a major victory,” he said.

Look, pal, you were BUSTED. Members of the City Council's Land Use Committee - the very people you are about to join come January 1st - spilled the beans on your blessing of the school at the Keil Bros site. It seems that the "deal" that Paulie V. made behind closed doors was screwing Bayside with a school they don't want in order to protect his base in Whitestone from the school that they don't want. And of course zoning is for just District 26 - it's an elementary school, my dear Watson. Please stop acting like you did anyone a favor here. What you did was stab the community in the back.

The sheeple of queens voted this idiot into office! I wrote him 2 letters telling him what a mistake he made with that dumb school! I never got a reply back! Hes probably too busy screwing some other community over! What a piece of crap!!

Michael Yon to do community outreach. That guy is useless as a political aide, he always tries to make you go away and does nothing when it comes to constituent services. God save us if he ever tries to run for elected office. To be honest, I'd rather have Marge Markey represent me rather than this useless guy

That school is going to back traffic up at 240pm and 740 am from rocky hill blvd all the way to long island! I drop my daughter off to school at 158 and it took me 15 minutes just to get around the block with all those cars! If I didnt need to go somewhere right after that, I def would have walked!

...The Flushing branch of the family’s law firm at 25-59 Francis Lewis Boulevard... is a front!

I use the Auburndale library and I have never seen anyone go in or out of the place except Stinky and his minions while he was campaigning.

I witnessed Stinky lie so many times during the debates.

We thought Halloran was nuts, but at least with Halloran it was obvious he was nuts.

I think this one is going to be worse because he's more devious.

Stay on him Crappie!

But Mr. V., don't I get a job? I made up "news" stories for you ... I did whatever you want. Don't dump me.

I am in a math mood.. 1 city council member has a staff of 7 (why, is a different topic). Assuming all 51 members have the same number of staff, that would make a total of 357. At an avg. salary of $75K a year...are you ready...$26,775,000.

All that staff to tell you to

1. call 311

2. they have no money for your community project

3. not to return calls

4. be on the front page of Queens weeklies.

Good news about that math-- avg of 75K is very high. You can find the staffers' past salaries on seethroughny.net/payrolls/city-of-ny/

Adam's Brain,

I'd rather have you working there than this useless Michael Yon.

@anon 6

Michael Yon is going to make Paul Vallone look really bad with the way he treats constituents. I can promise you that. Telling people to go away and bullshitting them until they go away is going to make Vallone look real bad real fast.

$75K average salary?...Don't think so, much, much less

Crapper, his lease is up and the landlord is charging too much to stay there.

Oh is that it, Adam?

Because he said in the article that he was hoping to make that his council office but the bathroom was not handicapped accessible.

Anonymous said...

Actually the bathroom is handicapped accessible when you consider the uselessness and brain dead nature of staffers such as Mike Yon a handicap.

The definition of handicap is not necessarily a physical one you know

So where's a job for Adam Lombardi?
This diminutive Vallone cult follower would make a perfect go-fer.

"Light with 2 sugars, Adam".

Anonymous said...

LOL!
RU kidding...Adam go to work for Don Vallone?

He would need a step stool to be at the correct height to blow his boss.

Anonymous said...

At least Mike Yon won't be blowing his boss because he will be too busy blowing smoke up the asses of Vallone's constituents.

MIKE YON IS AN ASSHOLE AND DOES NOT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT WHAT HE IS DOING. ALL HE DOES IS SUCK VALLONES DICK AND ACTS LIKE SOME DUMBASS FRAT BOY
