If you build it, it will sink

Save FMCP uncovered this image - on the city's own website - that shows there is a marsh underneath the Pool of Industry, where Major League Soccer wants to build a stadium. If they weren't serious about this proposal, it would be comical. And even more comical/pathetic/embarrassing is the fact that there are actually elected officials that think this is a fantastic idea.

Where are the environmental groups to speak out on the MLS proposal?

Politicians are just plain stupid. They can't think for themselves and are easily lead astray......by developers.

Please...environmental groups are usually ignored, because they're generally powerless.

"Politicians are just plain stupid." No, they are actually smart and conniving.

"They can't think for themselves and are easily lead astray......by developers."

They do think for themselves and are not led astray.. they are led RIGHT TO DEVELOPERS, which is where they want to be.

"YOU" vote for these people and complain when they fuck you over. You get exactly what you elected.

This is also not new. Back in the 70s, there was a proposal to install artificial turf at Shea Stadium that was shot down for the same reason. The land was too soft to put in the concrete and asphalt that would have to go below the turf.

The people pushing the soccer stadium parkland grab should have known this; if not someone in the Parks Department should have. Nothing but a huge scam on the public.

So if your team loses a soccer game it could be blamed on a sinking field.
