Hiram cries poverty

From the NY Post:

In a move that almost redefines "chutzpah," disgraced ex-pol Hiram Monserrate wants taxpayers to fund his defense against charges he misused $109,000 in "slush fund" cash while he was a city councilman.

The Queens Democrat -- who got booted from the state Senate for assaulting his girlfriend -- filed court papers yesterday saying he's unemployed and has just $100 to his name.

Monserrate says he has racked up $128,000 in debt.

Defense lawyer Joseph Tacopina, who represented Monserrate in the assault case, said in the Manhattan federal-court filing that his firm contacted Monserrate in October after learning from the feds that he'd been indicted on fraud charges.

"In response, Mr. Monserrate assured us that he would have the funds available to retain us," Tacopina wrote.

But Monserrate hasn't coughed up a dime since then, and recently revealed he lacks the means to do so.

Tacopina is charging him $128,000? Now that's what I call "Chutzpah!"

Why doesn't he team up with Charlie "I'm as honest as the day is long" Rangel and hold a yard sale?

How does being an ex-cop give him any special skills into leaving the country? What does one have to do with the other?

I cant believe I have to explain this does anybody in this city have street smarts in 2011 ? This mid-west yuppie disease is really taking it toll.

A dirty ex cop like himself would no doubt have the stealth skills to go around security, fake an ID and have "connections" in both law enforcement, gangs, drug runners with airplanes.
Look how he scared the shit out of that illegal alien women he cut up. She lied in court and refused to help the prosecutor.
She is now suing the city for 75 million.
I believe it is HE (Hiram)who came up with her scheme to turn the tables on justice system and cash in on it all. -And if so they are likely secret partners because a seasoned law enforcement person cop would know exactly how to work it.

You are all too hard on hiram. He's a retired cop a Marine and also did good things for his community. He may have made mistakes but in the final analysis he's not the villain you all make him out to be.

C'mon this is a "Dirty ex-cop" who couldn't get himself clear of a simple assault charge. You're giving him credit for a lot of skills he's too stupid to have. Report are he wasn't a very street smart cop

Tacopina became a big name attorney representing the low life - lot of press, Tacopina was flamboyant camera interview hog as his client was and has probably expanded his firm's business by 1000%

Is there anything about Monserrate that isn't completely fraudulent?

Does anyone here believe that he's a Marine Reservist? Can an undisciplined man that Monserrate's exposed himself to be ever pass the training of THE FEW and THE PROUD?

Asking for Federal "free money" courtesy of taxpayers makes him (and Tacopina) no better than pickpockets and this "generosity" has to end.

Who's his publicist, the New York Times?

FUCK HIM! this bastard should rot in jail.
