The perils of Francis Lewis Park

"Francis Lewis Park a hidden gem in Whitestone that is host to hundreds of weddings a year, not a weekend goes by without brides and grooms being photographed here. It is also host to hundreds of children daily. I took this photo today after noticing this tree two weeks ago. As I approached, I could not believe that the only thing preventing children from getting too close was a ten foot piece of caution tape. Nothing around the entire tree, just one side.

Why does everything that happen in our neighborhood include government agencies tempting fate as if hoping someone gets hurt. I witnessed a Parks Department truck drive by me as I was snapping this picture. He drove by an overloaded garbage can with garbage all over the floor around it. How long would it have taken to at least pull the hanging branch down to the floor instead of tempting fate."

Is anyone going out on a limb to fix this before the next wind event on Friday?

Did anyone call 311 and report it - or are people just complaining about it?

Why? Because this is queens you pay pay pay and watch all of your money float across the river to fix Manhattan.

What kind of stupidity is out there? Did I call? Did I call 311 and report it or are people just complaining? Really? We have to complain about it? Did you read the post? A Parks Department Maintenance truck drove right by me and the tree, some one put Caution tape by the tree, it has been there for over two weeks, the Parks department did know about it.

Yes we called, when I called I was told they were aware of it and were busy with the Tornadoe clean up that took place when? Three to Four weeks ago? Ok so they couldn't get rid of it, how about pulling it down and putting caution tape around the whole thing. This way there is no risk of it falling and hurting or worse killing an innocent.

Again Government Agencies at their best.

I am not surprised. The Parks Department feels like they can do whatever they want and not be held accountable.

Well Crappy thanks again it worked. Embarass the incompetents in the City agency and lo and behold they cut the tree down yesterday. At least from what we are able to see from the car while driveing it is no longer hanging there waiting to fall.
