CUNY courts illegal aliens

From the Daily News:

Arizona may be cracking down on illegal immigrants, but one New York college is inviting them in.

New York City College of Technology in Brooklyn has launched a free pilot program that aims to get Mexican restaurant workers to go back to school, even if they're undocumented.

Students end up with a City Tech certificate that's also recognized in Mexico. CUNY officials said the program, funded by a $100,000 grant from the Mexican government, is likely the first of its kind in the country.

Though many city agencies, such as public schools and hospitals, are required to provide services for immigrants regardless of status, the CUNY program goes further and actively courts even illegal immigrants.

Officials from CUNY, long a launching pad for immigrant strivers, said it isn't their business to ask students their legal status.

Why not? You get funded by taxpayer dollars yet are promoting a program that will help illegals get better paying jobs off the books? This makes sense because...?

If our tax dollars are paying for education for illegal aliens, aren't we guilty of aiding and abetting criminals? Just Asking? I thought the city had no money. Isn't that why we are always getting tax increases?

this makes sense because,as obama said we must spread the wealth. they sang the soviet national anthem ,(the internationale) at the first graduation of the C.U.N.Y. law school at Queens College.

U.S.citizens pay and the workers of the world unite.

liberal-progressives spend ,spend ,spend money we do not have and then tax ,tax, tax you some more.

Maspeth Mom says.

Public funding of these type schools should be stopped, unless they qualify that citizen are served. It only make sense.

its bananas, but they will be citizens within the year... giving them citizenship means more taxes for the gov, read this:

You have two families: “Joe Legal” and “Jose Illegal”.
Both families have two parents, two children, and live in California .
Joe Legal works in construction, has a Social Security Number and makes
$25.00 per hour with taxes deducted.
Jose Illegal also works in construction, has NO Social Security Number,
And gets paid $15.00 cash “under the table”.
Ready? Now pay attention….
Joe Legal: $25.00 per hour x 40 hours = $1000.00 per week, or $52,000.00
Per year. Now take 30% away for state and federal tax; Joe Legal now has
$31,231.00.
Jose Illegal: $15.00 per hour x 40 hours = $600.00 per week, or
$31,200.00 per year. Jose Illegal pays no taxes. Jose Illegal now has
$31,200.00.
Joe Legal pays medical and dental insurance with limited coverage for
His family at $600.00 per month, or $7,200.00 per year. Joe Legal now
Has $24,031.00.
Jose Illegal has full medical and dental coverage through the state and
Local clinics at a cost of $0.00 per year. Jose Illegal still has
$31,200.00.
Joe Legal makes too much money and is not eligible for food stamps or
Welfare. Joe Legal pays $500.00 per month for food, or $6,000.00 per
Year. Joe Legal now has $18,031.00.
Jose Illegal has no documented income and is eligible for food stamps
And welfare. Jose Illegal still has $31,200.00.
Joe Legal pays rent of $1,200.00 per month, or $14,400.00 per year. Joe
Legal now has $9,631.00.
Jose Illegal receives a $500.00 per month federal rent subsidy. Jose
Illegal pays out that $500.00 per month, or $6,000.00 per year. Jose
Illegal
Still has $ 31,200.00.
Joe Legal pays $200.00 per month, or $2,400.00 for insurance. Joe Legal
Now has $7,231.00.
Jose Illegal says, “We don’t need no stinkin’ insurance!” and still has
$31,200..00.
Joe Legal has to make his $7,231.00 stretch to pay utilities, gasoline,
Etc.
Jose Illegal has to make his $31,200.00 stretch to pay utilities,
Gasoline, and what he sends out of the country every month.
Joe Legal now works overtime on Saturdays or gets a part time job after
Work.
Jose Illegal has nights and weekends off to enjoy with his family.
Joe Legal’s and Jose Illegal’s children both attend the same school. Joe
Legal pays for his children’s lunches while Jose Illegal’s children get
A government sponsored lunch. Jose Illegal’s children have an after
School ESL program. Joe Legal’s children go home.
Joe Legal and Jose Illegal both enjoy the same police and fire services,
But Joe paid for them and Jose did not pay.
Jose with his free tax payer entitlements makes $65,000.00 a year

Our tax money? In this case, it's a $100,000 grant from the Mexican government.

In a building paid for by us, with seats and desks paid for by us, in a room lighted by our tax dollars, etc...

guys its a done deal- let them become citizens. Like I said, its being done b/c we need add'l tax revenues. now they can enjoy paying into a failing school system, paying for city jobs like traffic cops (who ironically exist bc of our taxes yet handout silly parking violations, which IMO is like double dipping- get rid of em!)and mostly importantly, if god forbid theres a war, they can get drafted into the military and sent to front. be careful what you wish for - u folks just might get it

Queens Crapper said...

At the end of the course, they still won't be citizens, so I fail to understand that logic.

crappy- no need to get worked up about this immigr. thing anymore. If its any consolation, its nothing more that a cynical ploy by politicians to increase tax base and buy votes. it is what it is...all under the pretext of "doing the right thing"lol

You pass the North Korean border illegally you get 12 yrs. hard labor, you pass the Afghan border illegally you get shot, you pass the American border illegally you get a job, driver’s license, allowance for a place to live, health care, education, billions of dollars spent so you can read a document. We carry passports in other countries or face jail time.

Agreed. People have to start thinking differently about immigration. The days of moving your family to the "New World" to start fresh and begin a new life; becoming an American; IS OVER.

That takes too much effort.

Its MUCH easier to send up a family member or two for a few years, collect as much as they can while spending as little as they can, then they return "home" with enough cash (thanks to the trade rate) to build a mini-mansion and live life high on the hog.

The US is now an ATM to these people.

Gee, I'm a stay-at-home-mom getting ready to go back into the workforce. I've thought about taking some college courses. Perhaps I should add a vowel to my name and go for free!

Who is the Jose Illegal, and does he give seminars on his success? I need some motivation.

So Americans are saddled with student loans and these illegals don't even have to worry about that? I'm sick about this country. CUNY is shit.

Anonymous said...

I think I'm going to leave the US, renounce my citizenship and then return as an illegal alien. Maybe then government will finally do FOR me rather than TO me.

Being a citizen in the US is rapidly becoming a burden more than anything else thanks to the a-holes running things on all government levels.

Why can't Mexico hold these classes in their country for their people? A grant of $100,000 would go farther there and help more people. Why can't Mexico help their people? Mexicans in this country are outraged with the Arizona law and are protesting our government. Why can't they be outraged at the Mexican government in their own country and protest there? Maybe it would force their government to do something for them.

What is CUNY doing to help American students? Anything for them? After all, most of their parents pay full tuition to CUNY. Illegals don't pay. What's in it for us?

Anonymous said...

I called the Prez of CUNY and asked his secretary if I could have free tuition. I left my name and number. No call back.

Anonymous said...

I wouldn't wait for a call back. You probably have a better chance of seeing God.

Anonymous said...

Where is the outrage? I propose that all CUNY students who pay tuition protest CUNY. The illegals do it when they're not happy, so I think it's time that American students rose up. Since we pay taxes and are here legally, I think tuition should be cut in half for the people who pay taxes. Lots of CUNY students can barely afford tuition in this economy. It's time for CUNY to help Americans.

Hi. I was being facetious. I know he won't call me back. But I am writing to Bloomberg to let the scum know that we know.

Klink Cannoli said...

An overwhelming majority of collegian students these days are Marxist thinking, much like their professors. You'll find no outrage over such an issue. In fact, you'll see solidarity.

Most of our universities are like this. It's also trickled down to our elementary schools as well. Heck, even the damn charter schools. Top down from the administrators to the assistant teachers.

This is not right. A criminal who does not belong here get $$ for education. I, a citizen the last time I checked (born in NYC) pay full freight for my son's college education.

Entitlement for illegal aliens - never - over my dead body!!!!

The CUNY situation is nothing new. When I attended in the 90's, the application demanded ALL my parent's financial information. They assumed my parents would be "contributing", even though I applied for a loan in my own name! As a tax paying citizen (I was a working teenager, remember those?), paying by themselves, I received NO financial aid. All while Jose/Alexei/Sanjay/Chang Illegal's kids go for free.

The sense of entitlement of these "gimme-grants" is appalling!
