Joe Bruno guilty on 2 felony counts

From the NY Times:

ALBANY — Joseph L. Bruno, the former Senate majority leader, was found guilty Monday afternoon of taking payments from a business executive and failing to disclose a secret financial partnership with the businessman.

After seven days of deliberating, the jury in Mr. Bruno’s federal corruption trial handed down a guilty verdict on two felony counts. They found Mr. Bruno not guilty on five counts and could not reach a verdict on another count.

Mr. Bruno faces up to 20 years and a $250,000 fine on each felony count. He is sure to appeal, and the Supreme Court is preparing to review the controversial “theft of honest services” statute underlying his case.

Shit, when did they make honest graft a crime?

just about every politician, city, state, and federal government, take funds ,plane rides ,trips, golf outings, from business leaders. are they all going to jail for 20 years? one state gives another state leader, free trooper escorts and drivers to entertainment functions.

private airline records should be investigated. chosen corporations never get penalized by the liberals in government. if yours is not one of the chosen, you go bankrupt from over regulation and corp. taxes.

why are the states of Oregon,New York and Florida exempt from losing the MEDICARE ADVANTAGE COVERAGE in the DEMOCRATIC SENATE health care
bill? could it be that their U.S.Senators are the chosen. no risk of losing the 2010 election.

11 million U.S. medicare seniors subscribe to this excellent program .my wife and senior relatives are enrolled. their social security contribution, which was taken from every paycheck during their earning years, goes directly to Empire B/C. no premium is paid ,except for co-pay of $15./doctor visit.

the rest of the U.S. will lose this choice if the DEMOCRAT BILL is passed. tell your relatives in other states.......

This is because Joe Bruno screwed over the tenants of NYC. He made so many people homeless you see them on the subway now. Joe Bruno put old ladies and sick people out of their apartments. Cripples, blind and little kids, he could care less. Will he care now?

Thanks to him your landlord is rewarded for harassing you out of a rent stabilized or rent controlled apartment.

Joe Bruno deserves life in prison and make him give all the money he got from landlords and the real estate lobby to the State of New York, for housing programs.
Someone should make sure none of his ill gotten funds are off shore.
Rot in hell, Joe, May Pataki and Bloomberg join you there.

No Bruno is as bad as Tom DeLay. He was a more blatant pay to play. Who defends him??? You get paid at a no show job and the only work you do for this is strong arm companies to hire your firm, that is illegal! dishonest graft!

I wonder if Frank Padavan will write to the judge and ask for leniency for Joe Bruno too? Or will he just stay silent about Albany dysfunction as he has for years?

At this stage of his life, does the conviction really matter? Like Madoff, he enjoyed the prime years of his life and will have a country club prison stay for his sentence.
