From the NY Post:
...hospital emergency rooms were flooded as near-panic over swine flu swept through the Big Apple.
Two other schools closed yesterday: South Bronx Charter and Holy Family in Flushing, Queens.
And officials said two other public schools would be closing today -- PS 130 in lower Manhattan and PS 35 in Hollis, Queens.
Also closing will be the Merrick Academy Charter School in Jamaica. That brings the total of shuttered schools citywide to 23.

Bring out your dead.
Bring out your dead.
dooms day has arrived!
Nice job Blumturd.
Now will someone in the self-styled 'Media Capital of the World' expose this scandal of his making?
Or will their silence just add to the scandal?
Our mayor is so popular that they named a flu after him!!!!
Mayor Bloomberg should have closed ALL the schools on Monday. This would have given the custodians a chance to clean all of them and would keep the infected home. He couldn't do that because he has to coddle all the immigrants who have no child care. Since when did the Board of Education become a babysitting service? I thought they were supposed to educate the children. My Bad! That's what you get when you live in a sanctuary city. By keeping all these schools open and by pandering to all the immigrants, he is actually spreading the flu. What an ass! Make sure you vote him out in November! Remember, most of immigrants are illegal, so they can't vote for him. I guess he hasn't figured that out yet.
Amen.
Speaking of "illegals". Notice how the authorities are pushing the terminology "undocumented". For example, the Census Bureau is adamant in using the term "undocumented" to get a more accurate count in the next Census of 2010. They want the "illegals" counted and fear that the word "illegal" will keep them in hiding.
Semantics count. Insist - INSIST -on using the term "illegals".
I call upon Christine Quinn and City Council to launch an investigation on how the city is handling the Blumberg Flu.
I would hope they are as attentive of this as they would be for developers.
Hey, nice work!
The "Blumberg Flu"
lets start calling it that.
Just heard that St.Demetrius in Astoria is closing down. What will all the little Greeks going to do? Flip beads on the streets like dad?
St. Francis also in Astoria is closing down until Tuesday.
What will all the little Greeks going to do?
Go home and collect rent from the Mexicans living in the basement.
Next question.
This is what I heard today. A school needs at least 5 confirmed cases in order to close the school down.
The "Blumberg Flu" started from two bad moves by our Mayor:
Sanctuary city: 3rd world people, 3rd world health care, 3rd world living conditions, 3rd world sanitary condtions. Expect a lot more of this going forward, Queens, because you will be the epicenter.
Staffing concerns: Blumturd lives in a world where whims are catered to by 3rd world types. Better they are washing his dishes than taking care of their kids at home. So the Board of Ed acts as babysitter (and nursemaid).
I have never before heard 'economic' factors playing a role in the determination on how to deal with a medical emergency.
But, since its 'those people' we can afford to do this, right Mr Mayor? Afterall, you don't have to ride in a subway car with someone hacking away like I did today.
Half the car emptied.
Can someone note the last time Mr Mayor rode in a subway?
The current hospitals might not be so over burdened and they might have a better handle on this infection if they didn't allow these hospitals to close recently. But money comes out on top once again over human life. Gotta love it.
Looks like they picked the wrong time to start closing hospitals. Wait until they start closing fire houses.
Don't worry about the darling little tykes. Mami and papi will soon be home with them when they themselves pick up the Bloomberg flu in a few weeks.
IG - as an educated woman I suspect you understand the math behind the Fibonacci sequence. Waiting till you have 5 confirmed cases, considering the incubation period is simply stupid.
Probably the natural log would be more appropriate as a math illustration here, but the point is well taken nonetheless.
