Elderly couple robbed in Woodhaven

From the NY Post:

A pair of well-dressed bandits dragged a woman into her home [Friday], bound her and her husband and robbed them at gunpoint, cops said.

Wearing dark blue suits, the goons grabbed Emma Villavicenzia, 56, as she swept the steps outside her house on 88th Street in Woodhaven, Queens.

They used zip ties to bind her and husband Angel, 63, before taking cash, police said.

This is one downside to that "American dream" of owning a house: You are a much easier target.

Hardly a week goes by that we don't read of a home invasion out on L.I.

I hope parts of Queens don't start to resemble areas of Atlantic City, Newark-Camden with wrought iron guards covering the fronts of houses.

56 years old is elderly?

If you're AARP eligible, you're elderly.

You have no idea how this angers me, I think home invasions with a kidnapping deserve a possible life sentence. He could have died if enough time passed and he couldn't get vital meds.

Police said they are seeking two Hispanic men, one light and the other dark-skinned.

Round up the usual suspects!

I always thought "elderly" was like 80+.

It's really not solidly defined. But when I turn 56 I probably will not consider myself elderly.

I bet 80 year olds don't consider themselves elderly either.

It's all relative.

So when my students ask me how old I am, I always say 21. And they believe me!

wow, and not to sound like a racist but are the police looking into the many suffering illegal day laborers.(don't want to come off nasty and not compassionate, and start pissing people off, lmao).. but too much has been going on around queens. from maspeth, woodside, elmhurst now woodhaven, could it be more shit from corona attacking us...

"...from maspeth, woodside, elmhurst now woodhaven, could it be more shit from corona attacking us..."

And unfortunately Northeastern Queens will most likely be the primary target. Frightening.

I wouldn't call 56, or even 63 elderly. Middle-aged yes, not elderly.

I hope these home invaders meet Mr. Bat or Mr. Gun soon. This is what happens when neighborhood cohesion breaks down. In my day, these mutts would have stuck out like a sore thumb and every eye in the neighborhood would have been on them.

Actually the suspects are dominican. Another website said dark hispanic....

If the average lifespan in the United States was 100, then 50s would be middle aged...but based on 2008 CIA world fact book, it is 77-80...making middle age: 38-40.

By US law, one isn't a senior (or elderly) until they can cash their social security checks once they pass 65. Most "senior" or elderly benefits provided by non-government agencies start at 60 or, if generous, late 50s.

Most health issues start around the late 50s and I guess that is one reason why things like AARP send you mail on your birthday.

but that isn't at all important...

I'm just waiting for a day a pair of former wall street execs come up to me to mug me.

went to a meeting tonight and these push in are happening more and more, police officer said glendale is being hit, not too far from woodhaven, hmm see a pattern?

Wall street execs have extended their territory into the homes of the old. Its like a scene out of a movie.

No, Wall Street execs are not robbing them in their homes. They have the pension and 401K money stolen before the post office mails it to them. Wall Street is a lot more efficient at vacuuming money out of people's pockets than these crude street thugs.
