Tony Nunziato Launches Grassroots Campaign

Campaign Opens New Headquarters in Maspeth

MASPETH, QUEENS – Despite the inclement weather, friends and supporters alike gathered to celebrate the Grand Opening of the Tony Nunziato for State Assembly campaign headquarters on Saturday, September 27th.

Nunziato’s campaign office is located at his business storefront, Enchanted Florist & Greenhouse (65-10 Grand Avenue), which he has owned and operated for nearly three decades. Also unveiled was Nunziato’s state-of-the-art campaign website, www.tonynunziato.com.

“I will be a performer, not a seat warmer,” Nunziato quipped in reference to his opponent this November.

Recalling his humble upbringing in Woodside, Tony explained how his family life and business experience has helped him better understand the needs of the people he hopes to represent in Albany.

Citing the $4 billion in revenues lost to NYC by the repeal of the commuter tax nearly 10 years ago, Nunziato stated, “It’s time our elected officials in Albany started working on behalf of the communities they serve instead of their own self-interests. The people deserve an assemblyman who works for them, not one that is beholden to the party bosses.” Incumbent Assemblywoman Marge Markey voted in favor of repealing the commuter tax in 1999 and has voted with Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver 96% of the time.

Tony Nunziato has gained a reputation for being a community problem solver, and attendees expressed confidence that his experience as a volunteer neighborhood activist and successful small businessman will make him the right man for the job. “Nobody cares like Tony Nunziato,” stated Ryan Girdusky, a Middle Village resident.

The General Election this year is scheduled for Tuesday, November 4th. Nunziato’s name will appear on the Republican, Conservative and Independence ballot lines.

Assembly District 30 includes Maspeth, Woodside, Dutch Kills, as well as portions of Long Island City, Middle Village, Astoria and Sunnyside respectively.

Thank God there is someone out there who is finally running against Marge Markey. She has done absolutely nothing for almost 10 years.

Tony's the man. If he can't do it, nobody can.
Good luck!!

Tony Nunziata is everywhere. Margaret Markey is really the invisible woman. I've never seen her at ANY community meeting. What does she do?

So happy that Mr. Nunziato is running. The people of his district will finally have someone who represents them. Can't wait until November.

I DON'T KNOW THIS NUNZIATO GUY BUT HE MUST BE BETTER THAN MARKEY. I CAN'T TELL YOU HOW MANY TIMES I CALLED HER OFFICE ABOUT PROBLEMS WITH MY BLOCK, SEWER BACKUPS AND NOISE COMPLAINTS. NOT ONE WAS EVER ADDRESSED AND THEY NEVER EVEN CALLED ME TO FOLLOW UP.

Good Luck Tony

No shot, at least Markey can get pork from the state for the community. Nunziato will be lucky to have an office with four walls.

sure, tweeding programs for the 'right' people and bennies for developers.

Will be there be a Maspeth Town Hall debate? Markey is the hall's founder. Nunziato is the hall's former president.

I am surprised that the aholes from juniper park patriots blog isn't over bashing the crap out of Nunziato like they do on their own blog.

Good luck Tony...

Maybe the blog's founder got indicted again.

just who is the blogs founder?

just who is the (Patriots) blogs founder?

None other than the perverted grandmother rapist, Dennis Pee Gallagher.

can't wait to see more fair and balanced coverage of the election on this blog.

you know, all the comments were positive until some jerk baited Dennis for some reason, thus losing credibility.

good luck tony, marge sucks and you don't.

Gallagher, Sanchez and all the other cheaters out there with nothing useful to do or say, get ready for the change of the century: Markey's a goner and Nunziato’s the new Assembly representative.

Gone with Markey will be the tax money filled trough for your snouts. You will have to learn to do something useful to earn money.

When Sanchez lies about Tony not paying sales tax (A) what's his proof? and (B) what about the years of Sanchez' cheating his employees out of their Social Security contributions? That's on the record. Eh, Sanchez? Have you explained this lapse to your employees and explained that the theft is the very reason your computers are 1980s models because anything more current will be seized by the feds?

Back to business. Tony Nunziato is straight, honest, approachable, and a problem solver who is involved in the community. Can the same be said about Markey? Or her husband?

Who was Markey's opponent in any campaign for office? The answer is easy: She never faced any opposition (until now). She was appointed to her first term (as was her husband), and ever since, operating under the Republican/Democrat no-compete contract, has never faced any opposition.

Markey and Gallagher teamed up to try to destroy the Juniper Park Civic Association, Tony Nunziato and Bob Holden. Look around, the JPCA still stands (stronger than ever), Bob Holden is more active and effective and ever, and Tony Nunziato will soon be elected to the NY State Assembly (where he will not stick his lips up Silver's ass).
Gallagher's near homeless (he was always a bum), and Markey's freeloading is almost ended. There is justice.

So, like any athlete too frightened to enter into competition, she's dulled with time; unable to perform.

Show Markey the door.

Long before Tony got involved with the Juniper Civic he was just a business man and a very active Community Board member who went above and beyond what was expected of him. I hope that on election day
people see him for what he is....a
hard working, fair minded, community activist who takes orders from no body....He is one
person who really deserves our vote

I know Tony Nunziato long enough to know that he loves his community and will do the best he can to maintain a high-quality of life for all of his constituents. People don't like Tony because he is honest and can't be bought. He is beholden to no one. Politics should not be personal. It should be about picking the best person for representation in the Assembly. Tony Nunziato is the Best person for that job. The incumbent served 10 years in that capacity. It's time to give someone new a chance. New person, new ideas.

Tony couldn't get elected dog catcher. He is nothing but a Holden Lackey, and all of Maspeth knows it.

A vote for Nunziato is a vote for Holden.

How can a vote for Nunziato be a vote for Holden? Holden isn't running for anything and Tony is his own person. Keep personal feelings out of politics. Why not try finding out what Tony intends to do to help his district instead of being juvenile?

"How can a vote for Nunziato be a vote for Holden? Holden isn't running for anything and Tony is his own person."

That is my point. Nunziato is NOT his own person, but a Holden Lackey, and only does what Holden tells him to do!

A vote for Nunziato IS a vote for Holden!

I know that it's not, but say it was the case. Holden cares more about the community and won more battles than Markey ever did. What the hell does this woman do besides collect a paycheck?

If you don't like Bob Holden, that is your right, but Tony Nunziato is NOT Bob Holden. I'm not thrilled with the way Mr. Holden has handled things, but I wouldn't hold that against Tony Nunziato. Holden does fight for the community, which is why he is in his position. I'm sure Tony Nunziato wants what is best for the community, otherwise, why is he running for Assemblyman?
