Mr. Poppenhusen, meet Mr. Crap

Mission statement of the Poppenhusen Institute in College Point:

It is our goal to provide a warm, welcoming and encouraging environment to all who enter through "The Doorway of Opportunity".

And if you live across the street, you'll probably be seeking a warm, welcoming and encouraging environment...

Yikes, that's horrible. I haven't visited College Pt since Flessel's closed in 1999, and now I've moved out of NYC altogether, mostly because of the overcrowding and congestion. The way things are going, all of Queens will look like a third world slum in about 10 years. Very sad.

Disgusting. I grew up in College Point and was quite upset at seeing this plague of multi-family homes. They ended up rezoning most of CP for single and two-family homes but the damage is already done.

Like the commenter above, I'm considering moving out of NYC as I can't stand the overcrowding.

I believe that's a Tommy Huang job!

A multiplicity of manure/mansions!

Looking at the illustration on their home page, it looks like this was in a beautiful setting once upon a time. What a damn shame.

63 Drive Realty, located at 36-09 Main Street built these. Deed records show that every owner here has a Chinese surname. I guess certain groups are allowed to sell only to their own, while the rest of us have to worry about federal discrimination lawsuits.

This is what happens when you play nice with the system and try to go along.

You get nothing.

You compromise and still get nothing.

fight! fight! fight!

Like Frank and Anon - If I could talk my wife into moving out, I would. As it is, there is a significant chance I'll soon have enough cash to buy a place upstate - at least I'll be able to get away for vacation and on weekends - Maybe my wife will like it enough to move up full time (fingers crossed)

Human warehouses.

Thank you clubhouse. You are doing a fine job of running this borough into the ground.

Not even a damn tree planted.

Conrad Poppenhusen
is an example of a grateful immigrant
who gave back to his newly adopted county.

He started the first
free kindergarten/day care system in the USA.

Bandit scum like Huang
are here to take and rape America....
aided and abetted by his political
friends like Gary Ackerman etc.

Talks like a clubhouse politician. They may 'live' here but their 'heart' is at their summer homes where THERE ARE STRICT ZONING REGULATIONS!!!!!!!

Economist has an interesting article this week about building in the Far East.

It seems that they build out of cheap materials so they can tear the building down again in 20 or 30 years.

Yet another reason the clubhouse luvs 'em.

(PS Since we always go along with whatever the clubhouse tells us, they didn't bother wasting time to let us know the rules on development have changed)

It is truly a terrible site. You look across the street&see a structure that has great meaning..I was there today&i was totally disgusted. We need to become involved with holding on to whatever little history is left in College Point, before there is nothing left....
