He’ll sleep in his Buick before he leaves his neighborhood

Remember when the people of tight-knit communities looked after each other, especially their elderly and children? Now that most NYC neighborhoods have been destroyed, it's commonplace to throw babies in dumpsters and old people out in the street. Hopefully there is a special place reserved in hell for greedy landlords and developers. Photo and story from The Brooklyn Paper.

What a crime! This is another instance that's sickening to the stomach. It confirms that many developers and landlords don't value anyone's life other than their own and $$$ rolling in front of their eyes, so they can intrude and terrorize other neighborhoods. Without a doubt in mind, the gate to hell is awaiting!

There is a line in the play "Death of a Salesman" by Arthur Miller that reads: (I think it was Willy Loman who recited it) "A man isn't an orange. You don't eat the fruit and when you're finished, throw the peel away!" (I think it went something like that. It still rings in my head and gives me chills 40 years later!) We seem to be gaining more ground in moving toward (and sanctioning) a disposable society. From disposable cameras, diapers (Pampers), Cars, houses and now finally people! To even call them "developers" is an abomination! They're destroyers of all things! The icy touch of Death is in their fingers! The Great American Dream is quickly becoming The Great American Nightmare!!!

I hope this thread looks into the unfortunate policy of warehousing seniors in those huge block-busting projects (for example, like HANAC.) Instead of having programs to help seniors in comfort of their homes, they are encouraged to leave their (rent controlled, rent stabilized) apartments and move into huge senior factories (makes a nice stream of cash for their promoters) in huge out of scale developments.

Hope Queens Crap does a series on that public policy scandal!!

Wow! Never thought about it like that. The senior is encouraged vacate their apartment and a few 'improvements' and you have 6 or 7 people living in 5 room railroad flat and instead of $350 a month you are getting say $3,500 for two apartments.

A correction for the sake of accuracy: It was Willy Loman's wife who spoke that line from "Death of a Salesman" by Miller.
