 Following reports that revealed the average person in Queens has to spend a whopping 83.7 percent of their income to be able to buy median housing throughout the borough, a study has placed twelve neighborhoods in Queens on a list of the top 50 priciest in all of New York City for 2016.

 Broadway, a neighborhood within Flushing, was the next Queens neighborhood to appear on the list. The area ranked No. 28 with a median sale price of $944,000.

Woodside train overpass is crumbling

A Queens train overpass is crumbling to pieces and nearby workers and residents worry if something isn’t done to fix it it could cost someone their life.

Take a walk underneath an Amtrak span in Woodside and you might be stunned at what you’ll see. Crumbling concrete. Exposed steel. Holes the size of a child in the pillars that hold it all up.

And that’s not even the worst of it.

“Chunks of cement coming down, raining down off of this bridge. It’s very dangerous,” said Woodside resident John Moutopoulos.

“A lot of people are at risk, vehicles, children, adults,” resident Sehar Kaddough added.

“It’s scary that you never know what’s going to hit you in the head,” resident Eli Monahemi said.

Monahemi said the overpass at Northern Boulevard and Broadway could have killed him.

Hotel for Jackson Heights

A tipster sent along this DOB application for an 11-story, 50 unit hotel proposed for 37-23 72nd Street, just north of Broadway. The property is currently a two-story structure (just left of the empty lot); the application is for a major addition to the already-existing building. (An 113-foot building is really going to stick out here, huh?) The proposal is for 14,280 square feet of hotel space, with 5,880 square feet designated to a community facility.

Huge condo building proposed for Broadway

A few more details on the massive Broadway development site that just sold for $10,225,000: a condo’s coming. Real Estate Weekly reports that the buyers, Axelrod Development Group and Lions Group, “are planning a 76-unit condo in Long Island City.” (The site is right on the border of Astoria.)

Actually, it looks like the new owners have already filed an application with the Department of Buildings to build on the corner lot. This application calls for 76 units over eight stories, with 73,502 square feet of residential space and 14,600 square feet of parking. The DOB disapproved the application in late March. The architect of record is Raymond Chan.
