Day after the City Of Yes got ratified by a criminally indicted mayor, the City Of Crap is still thriving. Here's one of the jewels of South Ozone Park on the corner of 130th ave and the Van Wyck.

There's sure a lot of hoarding going on here, makes you wonder if there's more trash under the fallen leaves, but the potential for a little more housing is pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty good thanks to our brilliant leaders in the city planning department and all their real estate lobbyist friends who actually wrote the blueprint for the most invasive and counterproductive housing program in the nation.

 

 

It's unbelievable that this house once looked like this. Even though the owner was operating a chop shop in his backyard and garage according to neighbor's complaints that spanned three decades.

Skull found by abandoned Van Sicklen house last year identified as middle aged woman reported missing from Brooklyn

Human remains that were discovered in a Queens back yard have been identified as a 53-year-old Brooklyn woman — and authorities say she was murdered.

The NYPD said Thursday that the skeletal remains belonged to Gloria Lee, who was last seen alive at her home in Flatbush in May 2021.

The medical examiner has ruled Lee’s death a homicide, although the cause has not been released yet.

Around 6:40 a.m. July 26, 2021, a person walking by an abandoned home on Pine Grove Street in the Jamaica neighborhood of Queens spotted a human skull in the yard and called 911.

Investigators do not know how Lee’s remains ended up at that location, nor how long they had been there before being found.

The woman had no known ties to the home on Pine Grove Street.

Spring in South Queens is off to a despairingly dangerous start, particularly with targeted muggings of elderly Indian Sikh men in the same vicinity that’s located on Lefferts Blvd near a Guawdara Temple one block west. First was a violent assault on a 70-year-old man going on an early morning stroll and a little over a week later two other elderly Sikh men were mugged and robbed by two men on the same corner around the same time. In both incidents, the criminals knocked their turbans  religious headwear off their heads, giving credence to Sikh community leaders theories of being hate crimes against them.

 

The two men involved in the brutal attacks eventually got arrested after being on the lam for a few weeks, one of them who was involved in both crimes. Yet something caught my eye from the Queens Chronicle report after the young man involved in the second attack:

Two Sikh men were attacked Tuesday morning in Richmond Hill near where a hate crime against a member of the same community occurred last week. One man is in custody and another is still at large.

The incident occurred near the intersection of 95th Avenue and Lefferts Boulevard just after 7 a.m., according to police, a block from the Sikh Cultural Society gurdwara.

Officers found the two men, 76 and 64 years old, with minor injuries to the head and body. A preliminary investigation determined that the victims were approached by two men who struck them both on the head and body with closed fists and a wooden stick. The victims were taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center.

The assailants removed religious headwear from the men and stole their money. The incident is being treated as a robbery and a hate crime, according to police.

Hezekiah Coleman, 20 years old, who police say was squatting at 95-54 Lefferts Blvd., was taken into custody and charged with robbery, assault, hate crimes and aggravated harassment, officials said.

Police believe the suspect they have not caught also committed last week’s assault against Nirmal Singh, 70, said Community Affairs Officer Scott Adelman of the 102nd Precinct at the Community Board 9 meeting on Tuesday night.

The 102nd has a directed post at 95-54 Lefferts Blvd., which appears to be abandoned. It is believed that both suspects were squatters there.

“That car will not leave until the perpetrator is caught,” said Adelman.

Sukhjinder Singh Nijjar is the chairman of external affairs and the elections commission at the Sikh Cultural Society. He says the society is working with the precinct and hate crimes unit in the aftermath of the attacks.

He hopes to see increased police presence and is working to get a car permanently assigned for the temple area. On Wednesday, he and a group of about 15 community members met at the temple at 3 a.m. to patrol.

“We’re exploring all these avenues to see if we can have this area covered, not only for our local Sikh community, but also many other multicultural communities in this area,” he said, adding that the society will continue to hold elected officials accountable on delivering on their promises.

Strong words indeed, especially to elected officials who continue to remain insouciant to the rapid rise of crime in Queens and the other four boroughs and most of all to the party all the time mayor Eric Adams. But in the case they should hold the Queens Chronicle accountable for getting the address of the house were the suspects were squatting in (twice in the same article). The actual address is 94-54 Lefferts Blvd, and  this house has a sordid past and currently is casting an ominous aura. I covered this house exactly one year ago right after a man was found dead on the porch one morning, a result of being bludgeoned in the head by two other homeless men.

Evidently, this abandoned house has got even worse and more squatters are occupying it even if they can’t get inside. 

 

 

 

Some progress made by abandoned house dumping ground in Jamaica

Within days of the Chronicle paying another visit to one of Jamaica’s more infamous eyesore properties, there was some limited action taken on behalf of neighbors who have been living with the abandoned house and frequent dumping ground for nearly nine years.

But just how long the corner property and its boarded-up house at 107-58 164 St. will remain clean or if the city will take any further action remains to be seen.

“There was cleanup,” neighborhood advocate Pamela Hazel said in a telephone interview on Tuesday. “They cleaned the yard. A big red couch I saw last time I went by was gone. I hope it stays that way.”

The Chronicle on Oct. 1 took several photos of the property. Trash was strewn throughout the front yard, as per usual. The seemingly omnipresent pile of dumped trash and debris in the backyard also was there, though the red couch, tree limbs and brush were a different and larger pile than the Chronicle photographed back in June.

While the building is under a full vacate order following a fire last winter, clean, sharp holes have since been cut in some window boards and walls, cuts that from the sidewalk appeared to be sharp and precise enough to have been made by hand or power tools.

The paper last week forwarded the photos, along with others from June, from November 2016 and from 2013, to the city’s Departments of Buildings, Health and Mental Hygiene, Law and Environmental Protection seeking comment as to what possibly might be done to find a permanent solution.

Emails also went out to the offices of Mayor de Blasio, Council Speaker Corey Johnson (D-Manhattan), Councilman Daneek Miller (D-St. Albans), Public Advocate Jumaane Williams and state Attorney General Letitia James.

The Department of Buildings, where records show complaints about the property were first filed in 2012, said in an email Tuesday that inspectors had visited he property since Friday.

“Our inspectors did find excessive debris in the yard of the property, and a short garden wall around the property that was in a state of disrepair,” the email said. “As a result we issued two violations to the property owner for failure to properly maintain the property.”

City tax records list the owner of the property as Resource Capital Group LLC with an address of 99 Wall St. in Manhattan.

Garbage in lawless democratic community

 Concerned citizens went to the 15-year old eyesore that has now become a pandemic; affecting residents who have to inhale the stench. On Wednesday Sep. 8th. members of our group "Clean Up Jamaica Too" were forced to make another visit; to the abandoned house at 107-58 164 th. Street Jamaica Queens. This visit was vital because our health is at risk and local leaders have neglected us. The corona virus thrives in this black community because it is filthy.

We have been calling on our democratic leaders for more than 15 years. Leaders have come and gone, but this eyesore remains a fixture. The current councilman who has jurisdiction over this area is Daneek Miller.

The garbage has now taken over the sidewalk: mattresses, bottles, boxes, chairs, about 90 full garbage bags, and scattered papers are just some of the items

A vagrant is rummaging. Residents have been calling: 311, 103 precinct, councilman Miller and others. Thus far, no one has responded. Some years ago sanitation began removing the garbage. But that was in the height of NY1 Ruschell Boone  reporting on the issue. Ruschell now works in another area.

There are four churches near-by. Amity Baptist is the nearest, a few steps away from the mountain of garbage. Residents have been appealing to Pastor Thompson, but he has not done anything to help. He and some of the pastors live in Long Island. However, Pastor Thompson was very successful in getting "no parking signs" in front of the church.


Residents are just asking for a clean community, especially to curtail the spread of the corona virus.

Dead man found tied up after abandoned house fire in Queens Village

A man’s scorched body was found with his hands tied behind his back after firefighters put out a blaze that erupted inside an under-construction Queens home early Monday, police and law enforcement sources said.

Smoke-eaters made the gruesome discovery on the first floor of the two-story colonial home on 217th Street near 104th Avenue in Queens Village once the fire was extinguished around 3:15 a.m., police said.

The victim, whose identity was not immediately released, was found bound and lying face down on the ground with severe burns on his body, sources said.

Emergency responders pronounced the man dead at the scene.

The city medical examiner will determine his cause of death.

Neighbors said the home, which used to house a deli on the ground floor, has been under construction for about a year.

“It’s very creepy,” neighbor Robin Bishop, 55, said of the disturbing incident. “It’s very shocking because I know things happen but not this close to home.”

Bishop noted that the area is a “quiet neighborhood.”

Queens Village abandoned house retrofitted as garbage landfill

 

Season's Greetings from crappy South Queens Village where disrespectful auto body shops do as they please, illegal dumping and litter runs rampant, junk cars and boats parked all over residential streets...Oh, dont get me started on the illegal truck/trailer parking up and down Springfield Blvd. Well, now we have this latest ghetto disaster to feast our eyes upon @ 214-15 Hollis Ave. Yup, a gutted foreclosed home with all it's crap left out in the driveway and front yard for 3 weeks now, and as usual, nothing is getting done about it (despite multiple complaints filed by yours truly).

 Well, as I was taking these pictures, 2 thugs driving a Mercedes with dark tinted windows pulled up and with attitude started asking why I'm taking pictures. I didn't take their crap and we verbally started going back and forth until his friend (the passenger) told him to calm down. The driver then gave me this BS story about how he cleans up properties and he's going to the city and to clean up this one. They took off. BS! They are drug dealers who set businesses in these foreclosed homes and got nervous seeing someone taking photos (another quality of life issue to add to the list). Fellow, Queens Crappers, I'm open to suggestions on how to handle this situation, because my local politicians are useless.
