New York City public schools are on track to lose close to 30,000 students by this fall, according to new city data.

Projections from the Office of Student Enrollment, shared with The Post Friday, showed the city Department of Education expects to enroll roughly 28,100 fewer students this fall, and another 2,300 students by the end of the school year.

The figures account for students in all geographic district schools — but do not include those enrolled in charter schools, schools for kids with disabilities, and other nontraditional public programs.

“Here’s what’s happening with the Department of Education,” Mayor Eric Adams said at an unrelated event this week.

“We have a massive hemorrhaging of students — massive hemorrhaging. We’re in a very dangerous place in the number of students that we are dropping,” he said.

By the end of next school year, the largest school district in the nation expects to serve a student population of just 760,439 children, the data show.

The second largest public school system — the Los Angeles Unified School District — enrolls over 600,000 students in kindergarten through twelfth grade, according to its website.

The DOE on Friday doubled down on School Chancellor David Banks’ focus on responding to students’ needs and making families feel heard to stem the tide.

Roughly 120,000 students have fled the public school system over the last five years, according to the DOE.

Officials also pointed to national trends of decreased enrollment, attributing that to diminished birthrates, a lack of affordability, and relocations during the pandemic.

Adding that those problems can’t be solved in half of a year, they were optimistic about plans so far and in the works to lure families back to the public school system.

Why are 82% of Public Schools Failing ?
One-fourth of all schools are failing 9 out of 10 children yet NYC spends $28,139 per student.
The DOE in NY is all controlled by commie Demorats and they don't give a rats ass !

There is a 'deafening media silence' on global protests.

This is as big a surprise as learning JQ likes riding bikes.

The National Catholic Educational Association reports that enrollment in U.S. Catholic schools increased by 72,000 students +3.8%—from fall 2020 to fall 2021. That's the highest one-year increase the organization has recorded and the first enrollment upswing in two decades
They have more freedom to dismiss disruptive students, and their parents are more involved in their children's education.

Teaching in NYC is Nice work if you can get it. These are the same crooks who said it wasnt safe to return to school and let the parents and kids suffer while they still got paid for 2 years of not doing any work.

All with the blessings of Mayor Blunt.
These New World Order radicals want to inject our children with Dr. Fraudci’s poison in order to return for school in Sept. This is what voting in DemonRatics brings about.

Perhaps if they began Educating children instead of Indoctrinating children in the ways of the dear leaders they wouldn't lose so many students...

Schools are for communists.
Prove me wrong.

Perhaps parents would rather the kids go somewhere to learn math rather than sit through drag queen story hour and be subjected to other lgbt/groomer propaganda.

Teachers union leaders like American Federation of Teachers chief Randi Weingarten don't want parents to have alternatives to failing public schools.
Charters schools have had success despite getting far less federal funding than public schools.

NYC is getting its wish, pushing out Asian families to the suburbs.

Pushing Asian families to the suburbs?? Maybe, but there's plenty more where they came from to fill up the rest of the city. They'll be renaming Queens to Queenan Provence soon.

Why would anyone send their kids to public schools there anymore when it's just all a joke? You can be dumber than Forrest Gump and you would still pass. In my daughters last year of high school in Francis Lewis, she told me that a person she knows didn't go to school for like 3 months and all the teacher did was give them a packet to complete in a week and the kid ended up passing. What kind of crap is that? Also, they need to stop with this "no child left behind" crap to bend to black and Hispanic kids. These kids have the capacity to be just as smart as other races but they just need to apply themselves more than just hanging out or playing video games or on the internet. They need to start holding kids accountable and the parents need to stop being such bitchy whiners when some rules come up that they don't like. The only way to change the schools is for the parents and the idiot protestors to stop their bullshit. Nomore "oh you can't say that" or no more "you can't do that". I also think that these kids should learn English before they are allowed to enroll in public schools. Why should taxpayers have to pay for your child to learn English? The parents maybe should have to be paying for their own children to learn English before they get enrolled. This way, teachers won't have to be so stressed about kids not understanding things.

Not sure why you say that. Teachers get verbally abused by principals and students threaten and use violence against teachers. Why do you think there’s a program to get non traditional prospects into teaching? The teachers Union is useless like any bureaucracy and the staff don’t do anything for teachers. Teachers are told to pass students no matter what.

Maybe if you don’t realize the obvious that the teachers are being told to pass students no matter what. Teachers don’t make the rules. They’re the rank and file and have to follow orders. Parents paying to teach their kids English is pure ignorance. You want kids to be educated and not fall behind but you want parents to send them where to learn English?!

You’re criticizing teachers and you apparently have no critical thinking or even common sense in regards to pragmatism.
