Knicks player shot outside Maspeth strip club

From COMET:

At about 7:30 am I received a call from Captain Travaglia, 108th Precinct, who wanted to alert us about a shooting that occurred at approximately 4:18 am this morning in Cometland.

NY Knicks player Cleanthony Early left City Scapes Nightclub, 55-61 58th Street and was heading northbound on Maurice Avenue. Just before reaching Tyler Avenue his Uber car was stopped by 4-6 males in three separate vehicles who then proceeded to rob him of his jewelry, cell phone and US currency. He was shot one time above his right knee. The perpetrators fled in an unknown direction.

The Uber driver ran to DSNY to call 911 and Early ran down 64th Street with his girlfriend and was able to reach a house and call 911. Cleanthony Early was taken to the hospital and is not likely to die.

I sure hope Captain Travaglia was authorized to notify you about this shooting. Otherwise his career is in big doo-doo.

Cleanthony? What a dumb name to match the tattoos.

Never show off your bling.

Clubbing in Maspeth, even professional athletes can't afford to live it up in NYC.

Cleanthony?

"I sure hope Captain Travaglia was authorized to notify you about this shooting."

Since multiple news outlets have already published this story, I think his career is safe.

I totally agree, never show off your bling or go to a low class strip joint.

Considering this industrial neighborhood's history with organized crime I would venture a guess that Cleananthony might be cozying up with the wrong people. Wonder how much cash was really taken and if the girlfriend had a part in the set up?

He was named after Cleopatra and Mark Anthony.

Plaxico Burress was packing to prevent this from happening to him !
Athletes are targeted when they wear their bling just like ordinary citizens are targeted in NYC. We lost our second amendment right to protect our lives/property and all became easy targets for thief's.

Sounds like he got in too deep with the bookies or something.

If they were getting the money, why was he shot in the leg?

Keeping it real?

There is more to this story.

I never brought any girlfriends to the titty bars, must be a lovely lady to take home to mom...

>Clubbing in Maspeth, even professional athletes can't afford to live it up in NYC.

That's the real takeaway from this story.

So freaking stupid today's athletes are... With the money and oh-so minimal stardom this guy has (or maybe had considering the injury) , why tf would he want to party in such a seedy venue where the wolves lurk? I get it, not a superstar but don't tell me you don't have the money to look at tits and cheeks in Manhattan or someplace Hudsonriver-ish...
