Cops tipped off Flushing bars about drug raids

From Eyewitness News:

There are big charges of corruption and bribery against two NYPD officers at the 109th precinct.

They are accused of protecting drug activities at karaoke social clubs instead of clamping down on illegal activities.

No one is singing at these karaoke clubs in Flushing Tuesday night, but informants are against two officers.

A lieutenant and detective are under arrest, charged with bribery and other crimes.

Prosecutors believe they were getting cash each month work from various karaoke bars in Queens in exchange for protection.

According to the indictment, the officers would warn the club of upcoming drug raids.

Or if arrests were already made, they would try to minimize the charges.

Keeping the karaoke bars singing proved a lucrative side job.

According to investigators, one of the officers was receiving $2,000 a month in cash from one of the owners.

I wonder how deep the corruption goes. This is going to get very interesting. How many more police officers are involved? And yeah, I'll say it. How many guilty cops are non-Asian? I'm sure the Crapper will keep us informed as has been the case for 9 years!!!

Occb used to have a vice unit. Disbanded due to lack of manpower....... When vice used to do this ,the local cops had n oidea when they were coming. See what happens.........

The whole 109 is corrupt because they take Thier orders from corrupt politician's, everyone knows this.

It took two years to investigate so many more are involved ?

I don't understand why it took 2 years for the investigation.

Hasn't this precinct had problems in the past? Flushing is swimming in corruption.

I believe it. I have complained to the 109 about these prostitutes parading in front of these bars in their nighties and of not being allowed into these places by the staff and the response I have always received is "nothing we can do about that". I guess if I was getting 2,000/month I'd back off too. We need some balls and something done about these whorehouses.

Yatyu Yam and Robert Sung, vibrant and diverse police just like Flushing.

A 2 year investigation gives substantiated proof of the futility and folly of the drug war. Also profitability, as that would be enough time to accrue a mass amount of filthy lucre from the sales of drugs (most likely chemical, heroin, ecstasy, meth) and prostitution.

To paraphrase george the athiest: That show "the wire" is so educational.

Now, how about an investigation of police corruption in the east village, williamsburgh, and greenpoint, where there is a new bar within every breath.

I'm sure Patrick Lynch will hold a press conference decrying police who are corrupt and saying that they tarnish the reputations of all their brothers and sisters on the force. No, wait a minute - he'd never do that.

Maybe Lynch will say that if cops were given a decent contract, they wouldn't be tempted by bribes. No, he won't say that - but he might be thinking it.

Just look at the streetscape of Flushing and you know it's a lawless neighborhood and nothing is being done to correct it.

Time for Flushing to be sanitized.

THE NYPD NEEDS A NEW UNIT OF 500 OFFICERS WHO STRICTLY AND SOLELY FOCUS ON CORRUPTION & BRIBERY. IT SHOULD BE CALLED THE ANTI-CORRUPTION UNIT OR 'ACU' ...

I tipped off the "authorities" about situations like this going on in Bayside, Flushing, Douglaston three years ago. Nothing was done. Hmmmm, who was getting paid off then and by who.
This Asian fed corruption goes much higher up. Tossing a few cops under the bus to take the heat for the "biggies" ought to pacify the dumb voters for awhile. Mr. & Mrs. big will continue to operate as usual.
The 109th has, and will continue to be, one of the crookedest precincts in Queens. Why? It is the epicenter for Asian corruption. They have been getting pay offs from "massage parlors" and "karaoke clubs" for years.
There are at least four such operating establishments on 164th Street between Depot Road and Crocheron Ave.
What has been done here despite many neighborhood complaints? Zilch! This seemingly quiet little street is brothel center!
BTW, this is more proof that if you spot any prostitution, etc. the last place to file a complaint is with the dirty 109th. I have often told this to neighbors. A report to the 109th gets put in the waste bin or worse. They might keep an eye on you and intimidate you for reporting a nice partnership between a local madam and police officer. Do not trust any local cops. Report to the DA, Queens vice narcotics or the FBI.
Better yet, make your report anonymous!

This kind of crap goes way back to the 1990s. One 109th commander was removed to the Bronx because he was "lax" on the job.
It was Julia Harrison that pointed the finger at him. Forme Councilmember Harrison was a muck faker and reformer. That is why it was necessary to tar and feather her with a false accusation of being anti Asia. With her removed, John Liu and his confederates ran an open season for corruption in Flushing. Now, where is Peter Koo? Hmmm...taking his cut from Chinese campaign supporters?
Blood is thicker than water and fellow countrymen will stick together, no doubt. Koo's defense for what has been going on under his very nose will be his beautific blank smile and silence.

CB7 has been told to stay out of these kind of things. Prostitution is "the Asian way" as they were once told.
They allow this kind of crap to be contained as long as the surrounding finer residential communities such as Baside and north Flushing and Whitestone are not grossly affected. Can you imagine CB7 member Warren Schreiber taking any decisive action? He is a follower, never a leader. And Bitterman just looks the othe way collecting het 99 Gs in annual salary.

Just great. They will never learn. NYPD needs to weed out the bad guys!

The 109 has been corrupt for as long as I can remember.

But are there rich Asians there?

Get the NYPD out of the way and bring in the feds: Homeland Security, DEA, FBI and every federal agency that uses acronyms. This isn't a problem that Bratton, DiBlasio or Cuomo can tackle. The players involved are multinational, ar beyond the reach of local cops...

You are kidding? There is plenty of action right next to Avella and Vallone.
The area is swamped with this shit.
The Feds need to be involved, otherwise nothing gets done.
Enforce the laws! That's all everybody is asking for in the neighborhood!

Is much easier to cruise in a patrol car with markings on the side only and look for speeding, tinted windows, cell phone use while literally they are passing by whorehouses and gambling parlors.

Also sanitation needs to get involved.
I see piles of garbage in front of some of these houses every pick up day.
Is residential pick up the same as commercial ?
Plus Fire Dept. Did not know basements can hold 20-30 or more people at times.
Plus Health Dept. No smoking is the law now right?
Plus Tax Dept. Not paying the taxes while running a business in a private/residential setting.

What the fuck? Every agency is getting paid off now?

GO Queens DA!

They also protect villagio, cherry valley and exxon gas station with their illegal parking abd under age alcohol sales by looking the other way.

The pd doesn't need an acu. They have iab and inspections. But these units tend to get cops afraid of the street and therefore their skills are quite lacking. There is a big shortage of cops and their leadership has no balls.

Anonymous said...

I guess that's why, or partly why, the 109 often does not respond to many 311 complaints. They don't show then lie about it when in fact I would wait for them.

The worst of the crap is contained in the downtown hub. That's the deal that was cut between illicit businesses, crooked politicians (like the Stavisky team back in the early 80s) and law enforcement.
Of course it could not be fully contained and it has spread to the finer residential neighborhoods.
FYI:
In 1991 there were approximately 40 whore houses operating close to 109th precinct headquarters, and nothing was done.
This info came from a city council employee.
The 109th needs a yearly douche to weed out crooked cops.
For the moment corruption has been halted. It will start up again as long as predominantly Asian brothels are allowed to exist.
Maybe IRS should fine comb police life styles. If that one crooked cop got $2,000 a month from one club, how many other payoffs did he get? That's a lot of undeclared cash that's got to show up somewhere.
Bring in the FBI, IRS, etc.

Anonymous said...

How much laundered Asian brothel cash wound up in the Stavisky coffers....known to Toby, or unknown to her?
Which tong does Peter Koo belong to? Where does his money come from besides developers?

Anonymous said...

LOL! Speaking of shady blowhards. How many blow jobs has Paul Vallone gotten at one of these clubs to look the other way.
Oh, he can always confess his sins at St. Andrew's , that noble churchgoer.

That dumb, lazy CB7 is too busy approving over development variances to give a damn about stuff like this.
Replace Apelin, Kelty and Bitterman. Better yet, abolish these phony useless community boards. They are an advisory illusion of government participation by citizens and drain our tax money. We need a real prescription not a placebo.
That is what CBs really are, a placebo to make us all feel good without a cure.

I once complained to the cops about an illegal gambling operation. They were a no show. I then decided to tip off IRS. It got closed within the year. Follow the money, even when it leads to the NYC's dirtiest. They are certainly not NYC's finest!

Like i have always said, get the NYPD out of the equation and bring on the feds. This could only get worse. We can't become as corrupt as Atlantic City or the rest of jersey...So far Bratton has nothing to show when it comes to organized crime. We're doomed !!!

I then decided to tip off IRS

Not a nice thing to do :) however seems to be the only effective solution.

Prostitution should be legal anyway. And I'll tell ya, those asian girls are so hot, and very enthusiastic. Gotta love em.

So far, 4 officers have been busted in this investigation. All Asian.

a local resident said...

What is councilman Paul Vallone doing about the, at least, four whore houses-clubs on 164th Street between Crocheron Ave. and Depot Road?
No much we see. Remember this whe you think of re-electing this do nothing boob!
He is Paulie on the spot when it comes to serving his developer clients. Is Vallone your representative or theirs?

Of course they are all Asian. Prostitution and gambling are the Asian way of life in their countries.
Crooked Asian cops supporting a crooked Asian business only proves that blood is thicker than their watery oath to protect and serve the public. Then you sweeten the pot with thousands of dollars of bribe money, and what have you got? Corruption with a capital "C" , just like in the old country.
