IMHO, the Vallones are responsible for this.

There are rumors that St Micheals Cemetery is a client of Daddy's consulting firm and they needed more space. Perhaps they buy the mansion and swap it with the city for park land adjacent to the cemetery? Did Junior talk incessantly about the city making it parkland and ignored or went through the motions for other options?

If that happened, we would not be surprised if it would take 30 years and $30 million all told - look at the 20 year scandal around Bowne House (another set of insiders led by the Kufperbergs started that Donnybrook - and its only in the 'Planning Stage)' - and that's just for a garage to be converted into a vistors' center.

In any case, it would be interesting for the Vallones to reveal their real estate interests.

it wouldn't be a post about the Steinway mansion if the Vallone conspiracy theorists didn't make themselves heard.

bitch and moan all you and upload as many pictures as you desire. whats done is done. Astoria, you lost. its your own fault.

Vallone? Ever notice the Capone mausoleum at St. Michaels Cemetery?
Vallone & Capone. What a law firm that would make.
Is big Alphoso's family really buried there? Please enlighten us, some history buff out in cyber land.
I always wanted to know of that was the same Capone family .

Ever since the Vallones got in office there has been a steady drum beat against preservation in Astoria, and by extension, Queens and now, the city.

The dream of the Landmarks Law started to die once they stirred up the local pitchfork and torch set with the Steinway Community landmark being overturned for designation in 1976.

Walk around Old Astoria. Only something very malevolent could do that damage.

IMHO, all of Queens can blame that family for the damage that they did to this borough. Notice that mayors stopped by the mansion - look at all the parties there. Did you see any of the publicity hogging Vallone's in any pictures? Not until it was on the market.
