Thursday, May 22nd at 2:00 PM, Senator Tony Avella will be joined by College Point residents at a press conference protesting a commercial facility, TNP Trucking, illegally operating a trucking business in a residential zoned area (located at 14-29 130th Street in College Point). The company continually uses the residential lot to illegally store commercial vehicles such as gasoline tanks and dump trucks.
As a result, neighboring residents have long endured constant loud noise and unbearable fumes emanating from the location at all hours of the day and night. After addressing this matter with the Department of Buildings (DOB), Senator Avella was informed that the business is in fact, in violation of the zoning code and that this matter was forwarded to the Padlock Unit, which is responsible for padlocking the property.
Unfortunately, the Padlock Unit has been extremely slow in taking action since accepting this case in July 2013. A court date has only just been scheduled for June 4th.
Senator Avella and the local residents will urge DOB to immediately padlock the business.

Absolutely no reason what-so-ever for something so blatant to take such a long time to solve. This should have been done in a matter of days. This stinks whatever way you turn.
Well Joe, that is what happens when you let your politicians bully you. They should have been on this immediately - you can bet you last dollar if a developer had a problem in the project they would be on the phone raising hell.
The three other corners of 15th Ave, and 130 Street are industrial with trucks being parked right across from 15th Ave.
The surrounding blocks have been industrial for years.
And? This block is zoned for residential.
What I'm saying is that this has been going on for at least a decade and the complaints are always dismissed. The owner Defilippis must either know someone or is taking care of this business in another way.
I noticed this in the Property Profile Overview: Department of Finance Building Classification: G7-GARAGE/GAS STAT'N
I looked this up and found out that G7 means it's an
UNLICENSED PARKING LOT
Perhaps this is why all the complaints are dismissed?
The complaints weren't dismissed. They were sent to the padlock unit.
This complaint was dismissed.
The complaint was not dismissed. The link is in the post.
How in hell do they dismiss/ resolve something without imposing a fine?
It cost the DOB $ to send an instpector and process the complaint. Are we the taxpayers expected to pay for the this rigamarole?
Disgusting.
Well, what I find interesting is that the violations were classified as "non-hazardous". Cures were accepted. The question is "how were the violations cured".
We can guess can't we. The DOB needs to be exposed for what they are and that is dysfunctional; corrupt and totally ineffective.
They also are the real problem that needs to be dealt with.
Another example of why Tony Avella is an exceptional advocate for his constituents.
I don't see any other elected officials making a stand for their communities the way Tony does.
It's easy to show up and get your picture taken at all the usual venues but this takes guts and time.
Remember this when you go to vote.

This store came into the Bellerose community over 4 years ago.Violations are still outstanding, not resolved and unpaid.
The system needs to be changed but our elected officials refuse to take on this challenge. Why?
Why does Tony (the only HONEST politician in NYC) have to waste his time on this bullshit!
The DOB needs to be investigated! Fire them all! Time to clean house!

Why isn't our Mayor and City Council changing the laws. They continue to blame DOB and DOB blames them.Hummmm
Something isn't working and why aren't they fixing it?
We need to file a Class Action Suit against the City, DOB and its Commissioners.
Group ready to work with any politician or lawyers that would be interested.
The residential area is supposed to have one 8 few curb cut by city law they have a nice side walk with 2 curb cut with city money, DOT gave them a brand new sidewalk as a big favor. And they rewarded the companies that are violating city laws, are receiving DOT jobs on tax payer highways. I want you guys to know how the city is operating. When are we going to get honest people that are going to stop all this crap
