Bloomberg really wants soccer stadium

From the Daily News:

Mayor Bloomberg played goalie Monday, defending a plan to build a pro soccer stadium in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park in Queens.

The planned 25,000-seat stadium “would be absolutely great for the city,” Bloomberg said, noting the 13 acres of parkland being eyed for construction “isn’t used very much and isn’t in good shape.”

Whose fault is it that it isn't in good shape? And wouldn't that be the reason that it's not used very much? Lots of lobbying going on by MLS.

The stadium will get built.

You guys are fooling yourselves you have a say in this.

Only way to solve this kind of thing is to make Queens an independent entity removed from NYC.

Listen, we Manhattanites killed that stupid football stadium on the West side (thanks in-part to Sheldon Silver's hatred of Bloomberg)...You guys in Queens can do the same thing.

Yawn...here we go again...RU serious?

Fat chance of Queens ever becoming independent....not with the resident sheep who keep on voting in a slew of crooked pols.

"Ba, ba, ba", follow the leader.
Isn't that what little well behaved lambs always do?
Unfortunately, we do not breed many revolutionary thinking black sheep here.

P.S.
And WHO is going to get screwed paying for Queens' police, fire department, schools etc. after our borough's secession from NYC?

THE TAXPAYERS!
If you think our taxes are high now, they'll skyrocket worse than Long Island's!

You're dreaming, bub! Go back to the drafting table for a more realistic solution.

Besides, Queens is already considered invisible to Bloomberg Inc.
Isn't that far removed enough from the metropolis to be considered separate from it?

The stadium renderings are sooo pretty, sooo nice, sooo beautiful but....this is what MLS spokesperson Risa Heller insisted, “this is not what the stadium is going to look like. This was an early architectural design study that was developed to help us understand height, mass, and other issues pertaining to the land-use process,...When we have an owner, they will propose what the stadium will look like."

Approve a plan that isn't a plan and then we'll get an owner who will show you the plan you already approved. What a freakin' joke!

How much more pollution can Central Queens stand?
Think of the traffic congestion and fumes...

Please fellow Queens residents, can we just fight Bloomberg tooth and nail on this ONE thing, and give him a nice, final FU for his legacy at the upcoming end of his reign of tyrrany?

No,it won't be good for the city. It will be good for the developers and all the pols and their associates whwill get $$$.......

"Bloomberg really wants soccer stadium"

We REALLY don't want Bloomberg!!!

If Bloomturd really wants it, then build it next door to his east side townhouse.

Independent? So you can have rooster fights instead of soccer?

Poster 1 is wrong on both counts. The stadium plan can be defeated and seceding from the city is a really dumb idea. You want to talk about things that will never happen? There's one.

So Bloomberg wants a soccer stadium? So let him pay for it and build it on Bermuda or wherever his house is!

The same goes for all these other "overdevelopment projects" mini cities he wants to make in the outerboroughs!

Its like he's making NY similar to Lao Angeles, with some satelite cities ie: willets point, the Shea Citifield 1.4 mm Sq ft mall, Flushing Commons, etc.
