Why don't we see these beggars participating in community events ? Never heard or saw most of these characters rolling up their sleeves and genuinely helping out at a Queens function, be it environmental, educational, or health related. The operative word is 'helping', not just posing for a picture and taking off.

Who is the man all the way to the left?

Remember they are running for political office.

Sounds like a perfect description of the bright lights the Queens folks elect over and over and over again.

Who is the man all the way to the left?

Evergreen Chou, a perennial candidate for public office in Flushing.

Anon No. 12:

Just a guy with long hair, Gramps. Is the guy next to him John Candy?

OK. Now who's got the Purell?

Fu Manchu?
No!
It's Evergreen Chou..."ker-choo"!

Sneeze for good luck and maybe he'll win some election, somewhere, someday.

His problem is that he's with the wrong "Green Party".

Climb on board the Democratic "Greenback" Party, Mr, Chou.
They've got more than $5 to run a campaign.

They'd never have him in their clubhouse.

Can you imagine "Virginia" Joe
mistaking Evergreen for a Chinese take out deliveryman?

Just which body part is Evergreen?

I have spoken to Evergreen several times. First of all, to the right of him (in the picture and politically speaking...I'm sure if Halloran was elected he'd try to revive the Fuehrerprinzip) are a mish-mash of crooks, pigs feeding at the trough, or pigs who want to be feeding at the trough. Evergreen is just a mellow dude, who believes in all that hippy-dippy stuff.

As far as being a perennial candidate, he is involved in the Green Party and movements of the Occupy Wall Street type. He is the most active guy in Flushing in this milieu that is also Chinese, and participating in these debates and running for office is a way to get these ideas out and discussed. He is realistic about his shot at winning. I should add it takes a lot of dedication to spend all of the effort getting signatures, filling out the forms and so forth when you know you won't win, then it is when you think you have a chance at the brass ring, as Meng, Halloran, and maybe Lancman has.

will you investigate Chou's political actions while community organizing in San Francisco ,years ago. who did he comrade with ,etc.

who is his financial sponsor ?

I'm still a registered
Green Party member (groan...yeah I fell for it), who is currently in the process of changing his party affiliation.

Why am I doing this?

Spinning your wheels in idealistic mud for years doesn't get us out of a rut.

People like Chou are living examples that the hippy-dippy "power to the people" movement is dead along with the 1960s

True,
he is a mellow dude with a
truly good nature.

He's been trying his best to raise the consciousness of people on the right issues for over a decade, but it has produced nothing substantial.

The Queens Greens are a joke.

I'm too old and experienced to be one of the flower power children.

We need serious combatants in this upcoming MMA political battle.

Lightweights won't cut it no matter how pure their hearts might be.

If Chou is really serious about being a viable candidate, he'd go out and get a haircut.

Stop taxing my tax money (6 to 1 matching funds) just to make some political points if you're not in it to win the election.

Damn,
if he doesn't look like one of those chop-socky Kung Fu masters in a Hong Kong film export...the ones with the off-synch English dubbing.

I mean,
do you really think that some laid back mom (i.e. in Forest hills) will vote for Evergreen?

Either step into the ring qualified and ready to fight,
or else please leave the arena.

I only bet on winners.

I think all of those six should take advantage of the English as a Second Language classes that are around.
