Crowley lied to civic group about Maspeth park project
"Council Member Elizabeth Crowley gave COMET civic association the impression on Monday, June 4th that the board of Martin Luther High School wanted to wait until after the school year was over to decide whether or not to sell their parcel of land to the city for a park. But less than 24 hours later, the Daily News reported that the deal was dead. Crowley also "forgets" in this clip that the St. Saviour's site that she had previously vowed would become a park, is located in West Maspeth and is still available. Instead, she babbles on about slivers of land near Maspeth Town Hall becoming community gardens. (The lies start around 3:00 into the clip.)
Without community input, Crowley pulled the funding from St. Saviour's in order to apply it to the Martin Luther project and now both deals are dead. This is the second park project in Maspeth that Crowley has failed to secure, and her poor judgment and negotiating skills have put all previously raised funding in jeopardy.
Here is an article I wrote that details her actions with regard to the St. Saviour's site. I urge all Democrats to read it before making their decision at the polls on June 26th." - Christina Wilkinson
