Heroin trafficker not too bright

Always tidy up before calling the cops — it’s a lesson that Michael Cokley learned the hard way.

Late last year, he called 911 to report a gunpoint home invasion robbery.

When cops showed up at his apartment in Far Rockaway, Queens, Cokley invited the officers inside and began to recount his ordeal: one robber tied him up with duct tape and guarded him, while the other ran off with his bank card to an ATM and withdrew money.

But as they listened to Cokley’s sad tale, the officers smelled the distinctive aroma of marijuana.

Then they saw heroin laying out in the open, according to a report filed by Brooklyn federal prosecutors.

After getting a search warrant, the cops discovered 34 grams of heroin, 91 glassine envelopes, four marijuana grinders, and an electronic scale inside Cokley’s apartment, the report says.

Eventually, the NYPD called in the feds and now Cokley is facing federal heroin distribution charges following his arrest by the FBI.

He’s pleaded not guilty and is awaiting trial.
