Cost of crapper increases by $300,000

I don't have the time or the resources to thoroughly investigate or get quotes from people about matters of concern. So I appreciate when the mainstream media picks up on an issue I present and takes it a step further.

Here's the Daily News:

The comfort station at Elmhurst Park — the former site of the Elmhurst Gas Tanks — was originally quoted at just under $2 million in July 2010. The city has since raised the price tag to nearly $2.3 million. And parkgoers continue a scramble to find places to relieve themselves nine months after the park opened.

Nice. I wonder maybe if I drag my feet getting work done, will I make more money, too?

A diner will be opening up across from the park. It will be called The Golden Throne.

If you read the article seems the $300,000 is for design fees, soil testing, and land surveys.

Whether or not this is excessive can be argued, but I don't see how you can say this is a "cost increase."

Um yeah...

"The cost of the project has not actually changed, the spokesman noted, since the original 2010 budget included only construction and contingency fees. It did not include so-called “soft costs,” which include design fees, soil testing and land surveys."

So they budgeted for the building before they budgeted for the costs incurred before constructing the building? This makes sense? It's a B.S. answer from a B.S. agency.

They should have just built a park house with a mens room and a ladies room. Two toilets and two sinks per room. We don't need to look at a commode to locate where the rest rooms are. Someone got paid big time for the design. What a waste of taxpayer money. This is another reason why the city has no money and your taxes keep going up.

So why don't someone make a stink at the community board or in front of the electeds who are passing legislation on Yucatan Appreciation day or something like stupid ass.

Bitching about crap does nothing. Making the pols the silly asses they are publicly is the only way to get things done.

Soil testing and land surveys??? They just built the park. Its all new land that the themselves devloped. Why would they need to survey and test when they JUST DID THAT mere months ago. Did they lose their old paperwork and drawings???
