Forest Hills woman murdered when she got home after night out with friends

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FQnuGM-X0Aca2ng?format=png&name=small

NY Post

The Forest Hills mom found dead in a hockey duffel bag spent some of her final hours puttering around her yard and enjoying a night out — before video caught a mysterious figure lugging her makeshift casket down the street.

Cops are now trying to piece together how Orsolya Gaal, 51, went from a well-to-do, seemingly typical stay-at-home married mom of two to slay victim.

“It’s a mystery,” an NYPD official told The Post on Sunday. “Now it’s a question of piecing together everything she did that night.”

The source said that during Gaal’s final hours Friday, “She goes out with friends.

“We’re pulling video and receipts from those places,” the source said.

Gaal returned home before midnight and a short time later her killer arrived, another NYPD source said.

Then] around 4:30 a.m. [Saturday], you see somebody rolling this [duffel bag] down the sidewalk from multiple cameras,’’ the high-ranking NYPD source said.

“[Cops] actually traced it backward from the scene to the house,” the source said, referring to a blood trail from the bag.

“She knew the people she was out with,’’ the source added of the victim. “We’re talking to them. We also have to figure out, did she meet some mysterious stranger along the way?”

Gaal’s body was found with multiple stab wounds in a hockey bag, not unlike the one used by her son, the second law-enforcement source noted.

Detectives have found no sign of a break-in at the house. They believe the suspect knew his victim and stabbed her out of anger, a source said.

Police on Sunday released surveillance footage that showed a person dragging a duffel bag across the sidewalk.

Pizza Nazi freaks out on ex

Queens Eagle

A hotheaded Rockaway pizza shop owner known for his customer’s-always-wrong attitude is facing criminal charges after Queens prosecutors say he damaged an ex-girlfriend’s window while screaming outside her home last month.

Whitney Aycock, owner of Whit’s End on Rockaway Beach Boulevard, was arrested and charged with second-degree harassment for allegedly cracking the casing around his ex’s window late at night Jan. 27. He was arraigned in Queens Criminal Court Thursday morning.

According to a criminal complaint, Aycock arrived at his ex-girlfriend’s home, “repeatedly yelled at her and hit her window, causing the casing of said window to break.”

He also allegedly reached through the window and “ripped open the curtains,” the complaint continues. He is charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief in addition to the harassment rap.

The arrest is the latest legal problem for Aycock, whose abrasive customer relations earned him the nickname “Pizza Nazi” — a nod to Seinfeld’s “Soup Nazi.”

He was previously arrested in 2017 for cutting a hole in the wall of his old restaurant and stealing an oven. He was also busted for growing weed at his Rockaway home in 2016.

The guy must think he's Brando in Streetcar.

He also got kicked out of Riis Park too

Woman gets raped twice by two men with her family present in Little Neck home invasion robbery

 QNS

Two men robbed and raped a 34-year-old woman and terrorized her family during a home invasion in Little Neck over the weekend, police reported.

Cops are looking for the duo, as well as a third individual who assisted them, in the violent encounter that took place at about 9:31 p.m. on May 4 in the vicinity of 251st Street and 57th Avenue.

According to law enforcement sources, the 34-year-old woman was leaving the residence when the two men — one of whom brandished a firearm — approached and forced her back into the home.

Security camera footage that the NYPD released on May 6 shows one armed suspect chasing the victim inside the house and two other perpetrators walking in.

Seven other people were in the residence when the victim re-entered along with the two home invaders, sources familiar with the investigation said. The seven residents were forced to a bedroom, where they were detained as one of the robbers took the victim upstairs and searched for loot.

The victim provided the robber with $1,000 in cash, and then the suspect sexually assaulted her, police said. After the attack, he brought the victim back downstairs and removed another $800 in cash from the woman’s 54-year-old mother.

But that wasn’t enough for the perpetrators, police said, as they demanded more money. Authorities said the victim then went to another bedroom and provided $8,000 in cash from a nightstand. The second robber then sexually assaulted her in that bedroom, police noted.

Rash of Howard Beach burglaries

From CBS New York:

A crime spree has left residents of Howard Beach, Queens worried – and homeowners and police have been taking extra precautions.

As CBS 2’s Carolyn Gusoff reported Friday, Howard Beach residents said they feel they are under siege, with at least 10 break-ins in recent weeks. Five homes were targeted in as many days.

“They’re terrified. They’re locking their doors. They’re making sure that the alarm is on while they’re in their homes. They’re making sure that people watch them when they get into their cars,” said Joann Ariola, president of the Howard Beach-Lindenwood Civic Association. “This is not how we live here in this community.”

The community has just been rebounding from Superstorm Sandy, and police said 10 homes have been broken into in the last several weeks. Two of them were occupied at the time.

Paul Vallone thinks part of Flushing is rife with home invasions

From Bayside Patch:

Flushing attorney Paul Vallone said he is focusing his City Council bid for Dan Halloran’s seat on improving northeast Queens’ quality of life, which encompasses everything from safety and education to assisting small businesses.

Vallone, who is the brother of Councilman Peter Vallone Jr., D-Astoria, said he has been eyeing Halloran’s seat for the past four years following his 2009 bid for the position.

“We never really stopped,” he said. “2013, for me, was always on the radar. And we are really excited about the prospects of this campaign. People know me and my family. There’s a lot identification with what we’re trying to do with the campaign. It’s rare when I get to someone’s door and they say, ‘Who are you?’”

The Clinton Democratic Club president said he would especially focus on safety issues after recently having found out that part of the district in Flushing that he would be covering has become number one in the city for home invasions.

Really? Where would that be? I think we would have heard about that...

You have to scratch your head over a council candidate that tries his best to destroy the property values of his potential constituents.

What happened on 94th Ave last week?

"A question: A little after 10 PM last Wednesday there was an armed home invasion down the block from me on 94 Avenue (that's what the rumor is). There were loads of police cars (both marked and unmarked), ambulances and even a police helicopter. I've looked at all the local news websites, but cannot find any mention of this incident. Have you heard anything??" - anonymous

Heroin trafficker not too bright

From the NY Post:

Always tidy up before calling the cops — it’s a lesson that Michael Cokley learned the hard way.

Late last year, he called 911 to report a gunpoint home invasion robbery.

When cops showed up at his apartment in Far Rockaway, Queens, Cokley invited the officers inside and began to recount his ordeal: one robber tied him up with duct tape and guarded him, while the other ran off with his bank card to an ATM and withdrew money.

But as they listened to Cokley’s sad tale, the officers smelled the distinctive aroma of marijuana.

Then they saw heroin laying out in the open, according to a report filed by Brooklyn federal prosecutors.

After getting a search warrant, the cops discovered 34 grams of heroin, 91 glassine envelopes, four marijuana grinders, and an electronic scale inside Cokley’s apartment, the report says.

Eventually, the NYPD called in the feds and now Cokley is facing federal heroin distribution charges following his arrest by the FBI.

He’s pleaded not guilty and is awaiting trial.

Police say a man dressed as a UPS worker knocked on the door, pointed a gun at the person who opened it and then he and two other suspects pushed their way in.

The suspects tied up the people inside. They then escaped with money and jewelry. No one was hurt.

Two people however who were in the home were arrested after police say they found 20 pounds of marijuana inside.

Justice for Jerry

From the Queens Courier:

It’s like a Christmas miracle.

Three of the suspects wanted in the September 9 shooting death of Gerardo “Jerry” Antoniello in his Ozone Park home are currently in custody.

According to brother Carmine, homicide detectives and Deputy Inspector Joseph G. Courtesis, Commanding Officer of the 106th Precinct, sat down with the family, and, as of Wednesday evening, December 23, the NYPD was still questioning the perps as to how many others were involved.

“There were more than just three,” Carmine told The Courier. “I want them caught; I definitely want them off the streets.”

Reports say that one of the suspects, a 37-year-old Brooklyn man, admitted to being outside the Antoniello home the night of the murder; the three were nabbed by DNA evidence from an earlier home invasion involving another Antoniello family member.

Woman pistol-whipped and robbed in her home

From the Queens Chronicle:

Yellow caution tape separated a modest-sized home with a finely manicured lawn from the others on a quiet street in Cambria Heights on Monday, while officers from the NYPD’s Crime Scene Unit walked around the property gathering evidence.

Less than 24 hours earlier, Mathilda Theodore, 58, had been brutally beaten and robbed at gunpoint, inside her home at 115-75 231 St., where she has lived for the last 19 years.

At what her daughter speculated was 7:30 p.m. on Sunday evening, Theodore was taking her garbage out to the curb, when two armed men wearing black ski masks approached her and told her to “show them where the cash was,” according to her daughter.

Theodore took them to her bedroom where they searched through her jewelry and snatched up several boxes.

Theodore hoped the commotion would alert her tenant and prompt her to call for help, but she wasn’t home. The assailants broke down the door and as they were trying to disconnect a flat screen television that was affixed to a wall, Theodore tried to get away, but didn’t make it very far.

“She tried to run up the stairs and they grabbed her by the hair and hit her in the head several times with a gun,” Sainah said. “She had blood in her eyes so she couldn’t see too well, but she heard them say, ‘Let’s go, let’s go,’ and they ran out the door.”

Theodore was taken to North Shore-Long Island Jewish Hospital in Manhasset, where eight staples were required to close the laceration on her forehead. She was released and is recovering at home, but her daughter says she is in a lot of pain.

Violent home invasion in Jamaica

Thugs hurt 3 at home
By JOHN DOYLE, NY Post

Three people were wounded in a frightening home invasion in Queens early yesterday by a group of crazed intruders who apparently had the wrong address, police said.

At 12:35 a.m., the four thugs followed two people into an apartment in a three-family home on 157th Street in Jamaica, telling the victims they were looking for "Gino."

When the tenants said they had no idea who that was, the perpetrators stabbed one, a 39-year-old man, three times in the back.

They then slashed the hand of a 49-year-old city teacher upstairs, Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said.

The hoods found a third man, 34, cooking in the basement and scalded him, Kelly said.

The hoods fled with an unknown sum of money but never found Gino, Kelly said.

The burn victim was in stable condition at New York Hospital. The two knifed victims were treated at Jamaica Hospital and released.

Yesterday's incident followed a home invasion in Jamaica on Monday.
