From the Daily News:
Queens keeps getting the short end of the budget stick, says Borough President Helen Marshall, who has unveiled a "wish list" to counter the neglect.
The borough needs millions of dollars for health and safety services as well as more library hours, park workers and building inspectors, she said.
Those were some of the items in her $773 million list of budget priorities approved Monday by the Queens Borough Board.
But if history is any indicator, Marshall's wish list may remain just that - a wish.
When it comes to getting city dollars, Queens - the city's second-most populous borough - ranks at the bottom.
It especially lags when it comes to funding for cultural institutions and the borough president's office - which in turn allocates money to local nonprofit groups that provide various services in neighborhoods.
