DEP worker still using city car illegally

Hey Crappy,

I emailed you 9 months ago regarding a DEP worker who uses a DEP vehicle to pick up his daughter from P.S. 144. I've seen him do this countless times since then and have reported him to the DOI with no response. Yesterday he and his wife drove to the school to pick up their daughter and he had the audacity to block a fire hydrant. I have the same concerns as before: our tax dollars are paying for the gas, the depreciation of the vehicle, and his time (although not in this instant, because if his wife was with him, I sure hope he wasn't on the clock). And as commenters pointed out last time, it's illegal for him to have non-city employees in the car with him. Imagine the city's liability if he should get into an accident with this vehicle, whether he's on the clock or not.

It's disgusting that cost of living in NYC is going up up up and the quality of services is going down (or disappearing entirely). If they could weed out some of the lower-level corruption such as this, maybe they can find money to keep firehouses open or to continue providing children with student MetroCards, etc.

Attached are pictures of the family enjoying a life on the taxpayers' dime.
Thanks for listening and keep up the good work.

I hope you took a photo of the license plate. Hopefully they can catch this "Thief of services". so he can be repremanded.

Well, there *may* not be anything shady going on here.

See, some of the city agencys, like the DEP, need vehicles to operate. What they don't have is parking space for those vehicles when not in use. Often, because communities get their panties in a bunch and have mini shit-fits when an agency like the DEP asks for parking spaces/lots. So instead, employees are often asked/required to take turns taking vehicles home with them at night.

For example, the DEP office at Junction and the LIE.

It's the impropriety of it. don't park in front of a hydrant and rub everyone's nose in it.

You're out of line for posting the child's picture regardless if the face is somewhat blurred.

Why? I blurred the kid's and the mother's face because I expected that shit coming from the bleeding hearts out there. If it bothers the father so much, maybe he won't embarrass his kid by breaking the law.

there are cowards and nut jobs out there who would rather confront the mother/child instead of the man responsible that's why.

There are cowards and nut jobs who would probably burn people's houses down for having illegal conversions, too. Should I just shut down the blog? My life isn't dictated by the fear of what cowards and nut jobs might do.

punishing the child for the sins of the father and an illegal conversion are two very different things. it's unfortunate you don't see that.

In any case, i realize the irony of continuing this farce with an anonymous blogger so I'm going to stop.

No one is going to punish the child for the sins of the father. And the sad reality is that once you do something wrong, the rest of your family suffers. Maybe instead of blaming me, you should call the NYPD if you're so concerned that this child is in danger. And they'll tell you to get a hobby.

this blog use to be funnier when it was pictures of big ugly houses and illegal conversions.

It still is pictures of big ugly houses and illegal conversions.

It was funnier when you stayed in the woodwork and on your meds.

My old man worked for the DEP for a long time (never had a company car to take home, though!). If you're interested in pursuing this and you have a photo showing the license plate I can ask my old man to forward it to the right people in the department.

I'd like to see this guy get punished too.

I have a photo of the plate. Just tell me where to send it.
