From Curbed:
Snuggled up against the Manhattan Bridge, 133 Water Street, designed by barred-chitect Robert Scarano, has always been an amusing sight thanks to its too-close-for-comfort terraces. The condo-turned-rental has had plenty of problems in its past, but at least one of them has been solved, kinda. A tipster updates: "Back then, someone astutely pointed out the chimney on the neighboring buiding. Apparently either the tenants were getting suffocated or the FDNY or DOB took issue to the chimney. So they fixed it.

Who would buy this, yet alone live or rent these units?
The answer is, only a dumbass would buy into this building, or some eurotrash buying it sight-unseen for investment purposes. The bottom line is that developer was compelled, by market forces, to fix the situation.
He is a monster and his dirty work can be seen in the Bowery -- a zone busting luxury hotel that looks more like a prison and in Brooklyn. I wish he was in jail.
I posted this on The New York Post blog and I refer to Willets Point so thanks to Queens Crap and the folks from Queens Crap --
Rattner, Bloomberg, Burden as in Amanda the people's Burden, The New York Times, Willets Point and Columbia University Manhattanville

Eminent domain abuse...rampant under the Bloomberg administration including Columbia University displacing the entire neighborhood of Manhattanville although NYU and Cooper Union don't even need to abuse eminent domain to exploit NYC for their greedy shady real estate dealings especially with a socialite mega millionaire city planner and a billionaire mayor helping out their rich buddies. I am told even that The New York Times building was built abusing eminent domain oh and than there is Willets Point in Queens -- eminent domain abuse as well.

Now life is even more difficult.
Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha
What's up with those balconies being sooo close to that other building? That architect must be an idiot.
The balconies are not permitted in the side yard as per zoning resolution. The glass doors to the balconies are not allowed either according to the Building Code, since they are too close to the side lot line. The examiner in the Building Dpeartment, who approved the project, must be an idiot!
What everyone else said in their comments, plus now the balcony views (if any to brag about) along with the home values just got compromised...
