From the Times Ledger:
City Councilman Peter Vallone Jr. (D−Astoria) said he plans to run for a third term this fall after giving up his bid for Queens borough president amid the overturning of term limits last year.
Vallone, first elected to the Council in 2001, said he will officially kick off his re−election campaign at a March 19 event for his birthday at the Central Lounge, which is located at 20−30 Steinway St. in Astoria. The councilman, who plays guitar, will perform songs with his brother and Council District 19 contender Paul Vallone.
“The bad news about the term limits extension is that I’ll have to put my anticipated borough president campaign on hold,” he said. “The good news is that I get to run again for a job that I love.”
So Astoria gets to hold onto Vallone for 4 more years. Heh.
And Johnny's so focused on his public advocate campaign that he'll probably switch to comptroller.

Great!
Don "junior" Pete is running in the west and his brother Paul plans on running for Avella's seat in the east!
So Queens gets caught in a political pincer movement with that scurrilous Vallone family owning the fiefdom!
WHEN ARE YOU VOTERS GOING TO WISE-UP AND STOP ELECTING AND RE-ELECTING THESE CLUBHOUSE/MAFIA
RATS? !!!
I guess that poll showing Liu running at 2% made him wake up and realize his PA bid was a lost cause. Wonder when Gioia (4%) will also see the light.
If you are going to run a community into the ground, make sure you can stick around to the last minute to rip out the last of the copper.
It lots 'o work. Afterall, that wiring leading to a community's heart took a long time to build.
As long as a gang of the 'bhoys' are guarding the last life boat, its up an at 'em lads.
Is this guy serious in bringing in housing for 10s of thousands of people into Astoria - just on the waterfront alone?
WTF?!?!
