Council 30 race too close to call

The numbers right now:

2,352 Como
2,282 Crowley
2,031 Ognibene
--752 Ober
--196 absentee ballots

With 100% of the vote in, Como is ahead by 70 votes. However, there are almost 200 absentee ballots not yet counted, with more expected via mail, so the official vote tally will not be ready for awhile.

Interestingly, in a district where Dems outnumber Reps 3-1, the Reps cast 4,383 votes and the Dems only mustered 3,034.

You will get exactly what you deserve, Maspeth, Middle Village, Glendale, Woodhaven, Ridgewood and Richmond Hill for acting like party animals - a dumbass representative. The good news for you is that you can undo this in November, although I have little faith that you will.

I guess no one watches NY1, or no one would be voting for Como and Crowley. Or reads the NY Times or Queens Crap.

Dumb voters! Still, Como is better than Crowley. I hate political dynasties.

Wow. That is so amazingly bad. Who are these people doing this stupid voting? Man....maybe democracy doesn't work.

How did Crowley get so many votes? Who could feel good voting for this nobody? Do people just vote for the name?
The JPCA leadership should really start re-thinking how they go about things. This vote sure showed their lack of influence.

I can say this, I am so glad that Dizzy Lizzy did not win. I do not like Como but I hate Crowley more than Como. Lets see if she is going to try it again in September. Things that make you go HMMMMMMMMMM. lol lol lol lol

You're kidding, right? We're talking about the Queens Machine here, and about a district much larger than Middle Village. You think a volunteer group is going to be able to overthrow them? Get a grip.

You know it alls think YOU know what's best for the community. The people have shown you once again they know what's in their own interest.

The JPCA's smokey back room machine fails again.

Voters in Queens are fucking stupid. You put out a piece of lit that says nothing but looks nice and they'll vote for you. You kiss little old ladies and promise to fund their senior program and they vote for you (and defend you after you rape someone). These are the tweeded that are among the easiest to influence.

Yes, Anthony Como who is building a hideous McMansion and is dumber than dogshit is in my best interest. He's in his own best interest and in the interest of puppetmaster Serf Maltese.

Anonymous said...

Why do the trolls here always make everything about the JPCA? Are they really that powerful? If they aren't why do you pay so much attention to them?

Anonymous said...

Serf Maltese pumped letters out like a printing press and shipped workers down from Albany to work this election. That's why Como has the most votes right now, not because he's the best candidate.

Dennis Gallagher and company can't help but pay attention to the JPCA. He's sick and surrounded himself with sick people.

Old ladies in Queens do not watch NY1, read the Times or Queens Crap. And that's the voter base. The union people don't live here anymore.

Congratulations, Crappy. I know you think the district lost out, but it would have been much worse had Crowley pulled this off. Actually, with all the brouhaha over how much money she raised and how connected she is with the party and her family, I am glad that your profiling of Ober and relentless hammering of this unqualified jackass seems to have landed her in 2nd place.

Anonymous said...

See. Had everyone supported Ognibene instead of Ober, we wouldn't have put a complete imbecile into office.

And don't hold your breath about the absentee ballots. Como or Crowley, Como or Crowley. This is a nightmare.

Anonymous said...

The people who supported Ober would have supported Crowley instead.

Anonymous said...

If Mr. Ognibene had worked a little bit, maybe he would have come out on top. The fault doesn't lie with the Ober voters.

Anonymous said...

Actually, after thinking about this, I am convinced that showing the people who Crowley really is probably turned her voters (Dems) off. They didn't know Ober so they just stayed home.

I thought the more candidates in the race would enable Lizzie to win by a larger victory? Isn't that what she said?

Anonymous said...

Yay we got a winner who thugged his way to the top.

when this bumbling jackass makes a fool out of himself on the council floor, at phoney rallies and fake civic meetings eveyone will realize how stupid they were.

man, what an embarrassment.

Yes, I too have little faith.

Little old lady who reads the Times, Queens Crap, etc.

Gallagher's son is still backing Ober.

democracy works you petty little fools....

I am a lifelong Democrat but when it comes to local politics I am simply "anti-corruption."
I was going to vote for Crowley for a long time becuase she is a personal aquaintance but more so because she was not part of that Maltese, Ognibene, Gallagher group that has been haunting District 30 for so long.
Predominantly because of the opinions on this blog as well as Crowley's obvious shortcomings and the NY Times endorsement I voted for Ober.
Then I read the exit polls and I feel robbed.
I thought that Ober had a fighting chance. Now my vote feel wasted.
Como has all these votes because he (and whats left of the mob) mobilized the Italian vote which is still the dominant demographic in our enclave.
I should have voted for Crowley.

Hey, moron, so does dictatorship.

A lazy, uninformed electorate gets a lazy, uninformed officeholder.

Fortunately, this fellow has but 5 months to demonstrate what he's made of. Then, the sad sack of shit can be replaced by ______.

The campaign is already underway!

what do you expect the people of middle village are not the sharpest knives in the drawer

most of these people are stuck in a time warp

read the times? yes the ridgewood times

sad stuff

Absolutely correct on this one. The politicans have the little old ladies on a treadmill and they are too stupid to know that.

1. Give them money. Show up beaming with a photo op and covered by the press. The dear little things are sooooo happy for the attention.

2. A few months later, tell them that the Republicans will cut their little programs (it doesnt matter who it is -- Bush, Pataki, Bloomberg, Albany Senate, etc -- just make certain it is NOT the machine)

3. They go to Albany/city council looking to restore the funding. The local rep looks concerned, makes a few statements about the Republicans, then gets the second photo op and covered in the press. The little things leave soooo happy as their rep CARES about them.

4. Funding restored! Again, they toop to their rep, thank him/her, yet another opportunity for a photo op, covered again in the press.

This is what you are competeing against. A relatively small group that takes funding and attention far in excess to their numbers (good lesson for the inept preservation community) and cares about their self interest to the detriment of everyone else. The have no interest in schools, infrastructure, or overdevelopment - they can sell out and there is all those senior facilities seem to be a major component in most big projects -- and not rising costs (remember all the senior exemptions)

Now we know what the drill is, we need to figure out how to reach them.

Remember, the clubhouse has had years if not decades to make this into a fine art.

Not to worry. We are smart people. We should figure something out on how to short circuit this.

Now he will finish his huge pile of McMansion crap in Middle Village and it will be like a big middle finger to the 30th district!

Michael Asswipe Maschetti couldn't deliver the votes for Dizzy Lizzy. This man has no future in politics. But he loves to criticize others for speaking their minds.

Michael Asswipe Maschetti would offer his grandmother up to Dennis Gallagher if he thought it would get him elected to office.
