Bloomberg thinks city has too many cops

The Bloomberg administration has quietly yanked funds earmarked to hire 1,000 additional cops in coming years.

Police Commissioner Ray Kelly in January announced plans to roll back the NYPD's headcount to 35,800 until fiscal year 2010 to help close the city's projected budget gap.

But Mayor Bloomberg's May 11 executive budget calls for pushing back the hiring of 1,000 cops to fiscal year 2011 to generate savings of $90 million.

That means the force will continue to shrink, through attrition, for another year.

I'm sure that turtle face's block has an abundance of police protection.

So why the hell should he care about our neighborhoods?

It's time for Mayor Midget to step down but if he's reluctant I'd be glad to lose one of my shoes up his ass to convince him !

Well, why don't the community boards across the city demand a building moritorium until the cops catch up? (answer: most are not that bright - selected because of agendas and pliability, not smarts or ability)

Why don't they city wide presevation movement demand the same? (their neigbhorhoods are untouched)

Why dont the newspapers make a stink on development outpacing support? (real estate ads, real estate ads, did I say real estate ads?)

Dont worry, once the wealthy start getting held up on the upper east side again they will fully fund the NYPD.

The Killer Commissar is just doing what comes naturally. He enjoys the killing of cops (guaranteed to happen with a greatly reduced force) plus the killing of innocents (also guaranteed with a reduced, overwhelmed force) when the thugs run wild, unrestrained.

He claims he wants guns out of the hands of citizens, but, cannot abide it when the cops actually work to at least eliminate street guns in the hands of thugs.

Make you wonder if the Killer Commissar really wants the police to be kicking in the doors of ordinary New Yorkers as a demonstration of "who's the boss?".

Does anyone else think that this is a "Neglect of Duty" to protect and provide for the safety of citizens?

There's a way to address that: A Summary Judicial Inquiry", Section 1109 of the NY City Charter.

Five Citizen Taxpayers can force the Commissar to respond to inquiries in front of a judge, on the public record.

Anyone interested?

The problem is that nobody wants to be a cop in NYC anymore. It is indicitave of how bad a job is and how horrid the salary is (59000.00 to put your life on the line and possibly face a Sean Bell type situation), when they can't even recruit during a recession.
