Peace on Earth?

This holiday ad by the bank that is financing the destruction of St. Saviour's is quite ironic, don't you think? Pictured: a rolling hill and a wooden church surrounded by live trees, with the phrase "May this holiday season bring peace, hope and happiness to us all". To Maspeth, the holiday season brought the demolition of St. Saviour's parsonage and the transformation of the site into a waste transfer station. Also bestowed upon the town was an eyesore of a Christmas tree that the bank boasted of financing, but failed to keep lit.

(Visit the developers' website and you'll see that their slogan is very similar to that of the bank's. Yes, they're all treating us like family...)

You know, in 1977, Maspeth Federal published a book about the history of Maspeth for their 30th anniversary. St. Saviour's was featured in the book several times. Now they are helping to destroy it. Disgusting.

I noticed that the bank was founded in 1947. That was when St. Saviour's was celebrating its 100th anniversary.

Out of all the banks in this city, why would the developer choose this one to bank with? Maybe Pinky and pals knew about this long before anyone else.

At one time, this was a very community-oriented bank. Now the board of directors has gotten a little too powerful and corrupt. Look what Rudzewick and company did at Maspeth Town Hall.

There are now many more banks for the townspeople to choose from with more on the way. They may be a blessing in disguise.

A church, a hill, a parsonage.

Now where did I see that .... ?

Why would any civilized resident of this community want to do business with a bank that is happy to work with an indicted rapist who wants to destroy property and lower its value while that bank still holds the mortgage on that property?

Try that on your home that is under mortgage.

Maspeth Federal isn't the only game in town anymore. HSBC will be opening momentarily, and a Polish Credit Union will be built. Chase bank has been around awhile, but lacks parking. There will definitely be more choices for the community to bank on.
