Authorities discovered a woman’s body inside the trunk of a car parked in South Ozone Park Wednesday morning.

The woman, believed to be 26-year-old Destini Smothers, was found inside a black Toyota Camry, parked outside of 149-57 Lefferts Blvd., around 9:51 a.m. on Wednesday, March 10.

A tow truck operator discovered the body after they had come to move the abandoned car, which didn’t have any license plates, according to the NYPD.

Officers from the 106th Precinct cordoned off the residential block as the investigation began.

Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz arrived at the crime scene around mid-day on Wednesday. (?!)

Smothers, who was from Troy, New York, went missing in November 2020. She was last seen at Bowlero, a bowling alley in Woodside, according to the NYPD.

Is this drone a good idea?

From WPIX:

Juniper Park in Middle Village Queens is the kind of huge gathering place where everything gets noticed.

Especially a white quad-copter, or drone, emblazoned with what looks like an NYPD logo.

“We’ve now been requested by the 104th precinct to now cover all the townships of the 104th precinct,” said Mark Pearson of the 104th Pct. Civilian Patrol.

But Mark Pearson of the 104th Precinct Civilian Patrol, a volunteer organization that works closely with, but is not officially linked to the police department, is not flying this machine in any official capacity.

You’re looking at what could be the new face of community patrols – except Pearson intends to use his drone to find missing children.

“Wouldn’t you like to be able to find a missing child within let’s say fifteen minutes of getting the call out. We have over sixty members of the civilian patrol. We can mobilize our cars within a matter of minutes,” said Pearson.

Banksy not the most important thing happening right now

"I'm a fan of Banksy's. I like his work and a lot of what he has to say but this kind of puts the whole Banksy hoopla in perspective.

I was taking this video this afternoon when a gentleman suddenly addressed the crowd in front of the new piece in Woodside and reminded them that while they're out hunting down the latest Banksy, there's a helpless boy out there somewhere waiting to be found." - George

Where the hell is Helen Marshall?

"I've lived in Queens my entire life and never, have I seen such destruction. Destruction along with such abandonment by the very people sworn to represent us.

From the news out there currently, 80% of manhattan has had power restored. Whereas, 80% of Queens residents without power are still without power.

Rockaway, Howard beach, and Breezy Point are all in QUEENS! Just to name a few of the communities in QUEENS that have been devastated if not completely wiped out due to SANDY!

Some of our local politicians have been out there assessing and helping. Others have had their offices open on a 24 hour basis handling its constituents issues.

Local senators, assembly members, council members, and even a district leader (one who actually lives in the area he is the district leader of) have been out and about. Visible, helpful, lending a hand.

Molinaro, of Staten Island has been visible and rightfully vocal. Markowitz, of Brooklyn out there visible and vocal. Springer of Manhattan out there visible, helpful, vocal.

So my question and my concern is: If all of these Boro Presidents are out there, working for their community, their constituents. Where the hell is the Queens Boro President?
Is she ok? I hope so, if she is ok, why isn't she out there advocating for us? Why isn't she making sure that Rockaway, Howard Beach, Breezy Point, and the rest of Queens are taken care of?

If she is not ok: Where the hell is the deputy Boro president???

Either way, she and or her office, have abandoned us!"

Alfredo Centola
Lifelong Queens Resident

Well, her office sent out some photos of a "tour" she allegedly made of the destruction. But she's not in any of them.

Where are Deputy Borough President Barry Grodenchick and the other candidates for borough president?
