 Five people were charged on a 625-count indictment in connection to a gun trafficking operation that sold dozens of ghost guns, assault weapons, high-capacity magazines, and hundreds of rounds of ammunition in Queens, New York Attorney General Letitia James announced on Wednesday.

The suspects charged in the operation allegedly transported 3D-printed ghost guns assembled in Nassau County and serialized firearms purchased in Indiana into Queens, where they were stored and sold, according to the Office of the Attorney General.

An investigation by the OAG’s Organized Crime Task Force in cooperation with Homeland Security Investigations and the NYPD recovered 86 firearms – including 55 ghost guns and 25 assault weapons – along with over 90 high-capacity magazines and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.

Investigators began tracking Satveer Saini, 20, and his associates, Mateo Castro-Agudelo, 21, Hargeny Fernandez-Gonzalez, 20, Adam Youssef Senhaji-Rivas, 20, and Milanjit Sidhu, 20, in late 2023, according to the OAG.

During the investigation, Saini, Fernandez-Gonzalez, and Senhaji-Rivas allegedly paid over $27,000 to purchase firearms from Indiana, which has less restrictive gun laws than New York.

Early in the investigation, Saini and Castro-Agudelo drove from Indianapolis to Queens with weapons purchased in Indiana when they were stopped for speeding by the Ohio State Highway Patrol in Medina County, Ohio. During the stop, police recovered nine unloaded serialized handguns from inside Saini’s rental car.

From this point on, Fernandez-Gonzalez allegedly began paying Sidhu to drive weapons from Indianapolis to Queens.

Fernandez-Gonzalez also allegedly bought 3D-printed ghost guns in Nassau County and brought them to Queens.  Saini, Castro-Agudelo, and Senhaji-Rivas all allegedly sold trafficked firearms, high-capacity magazines, and ammunition during the course of the investigation.

One of the migrants who was arrested in the notorious attack on two NYPD officers in Times Square last month was part of a group that allegedly robbed the Macy’s department store inside the Queens Center Mall Tuesday afternoon.

Darwin Andres Gomez-Izquiel, 19, who was staying at the Candler Building migrant shelter at 220 West 42nd St., was busted by cops last night after being spotted at the Times Square 7 train station shortly after the Macy’s robbery, authorities said. He was taken into custody hours after he and three other suspects looted the department store at around 5:30 p.m., stuffing bags full of store merchandise before leaving the location, police said.

A 27-year-old security guard tried in vain to stop them and the robbers struggled with him. One of the suspects punched the guard in the face before the four suspects ran away from the Queens Center Mall westbound on Queens Boulevard with more than $800 in assorted clothing, police said. An NYPD spokesman could not say if Gomez-Izquiel was the assailant in the assault on the security guard, nor could he say whether the other three suspects were migrants as well.

Gomez-Izquiel was transported back to Elmhurst where he was booked at the 110th Preincy on Wednesday afternoon, charged with robbery and petit larceny and is awaiting arraignment in Queens Criminal Court. Last month, he was released without bail for his involvement in the Times Square attack on the two officers.

The security guard suffered minor injuries and refused medical attention at the crime scene.

NYPD deploys cops to Queens Center Mall to stop looters

Traffic has been delayed near Queens Center Mall due to the presence of emergency personnel in response to reported looting.

Video that surfaced on social media Monday afternoon shows a group of people running around the mall attempting to kick through boarded up windows.

The situation does not seem to be a protest related to the death of George Floyd and the continuation of police violence against black men and women across the country, but rather a previously planned  “loot out” that had allegedly been scheduled to begin at the mall, located at 90-15 Queens Blvd., around 1 p.m., according to a notice obtained by QNS, which has been cropped to remove derogatory language.

 An NYPD spokesperson confirmed with QNS that the 110th Precinct had received several calls regarding the situation and had sent officers to the area, but, as of 4 p.m., could not offer confirmation of any violence, vandalism or arrests made at the scene.

Another video surfaced on Twitter showing police vehicles following a group of people who seemed to be running away from the mall.
The city’s official emergency notification system sent out a Tweet warning of expected traffic delays due to the incident.
