Two squatters injured in Flushing fire

From CBS 2:

At least two people are in critical condition after a fire breaks out at a home in Queens.

More than 100 firefighters responded to the blaze, which started around 2 a.m. Monday at a home on 41st Avenue in Flushing. By the time firefighters arrived, they say the home was engulfed in flames.

Fire officials say the home was vacant, but the two people who get out on their own were squatters who were inside when the fire broke out.

“The fire building is a vacant building, but I am told there were squatters who self evacuated prior to fire department units arriving on the scene and they were transported to the hospital by our EMS,” McSweeney said.

Hmmm. You know going by today's zoning standards being meted by the city's d.o.b., you can squeeze a six story condo building there.

Could it be craven immoral developers are using the homeless to burn down homes like how they used gangs to do their fiery deeds in the 70's and 80's?

Queens is now burning...

Tommy Huang wrote the book on this kind of shit. Squatters occupied the Keiths theater when a fire broke out there years ago.
Are there any in there now?
I thought some big wind from China was going to develop it. LOL! The 6th blowhard
developer with big plans. And where is that lazy ass CB7 on this? Taking kickbacks from developers?

Why does the city allow squatters to invade and live in a house? This house should of been boarded up. Now the house will be torn down to the relief of neighbors.

Or it could be the Forest Hills arsonist, who was never caught. Neither was the Flushing arsonist.
Or it could just be that some desperate squatters accidentally knocked over the flame they were using the cook their heroin, and a dry, crumbing house caught fire easily.

This house has been a train wreck for years, check out Google Maps street view history. I have passed by it from time to time, I did not know there were squatters there though.
