Sort your trash!

From CBS 2:

When it comes to cardboard, a little cheese on the pizza box is OK, Aiello reported. Lid soaked with grease? Tear it off and toss it in the garbage.

Experts say disposable paper cups are a common recycling blunder. Most have been treated to be leak-proof, making them difficult to recycle.

Bottom line: Every municipality has a website or annual mailing, spelling out how to do the recycling thing the right way.

I think washing garbage is incredibly stupid, especially considering that they get washed at the recycling center anyway.

China is actually responsible for over 20% of the plastics that are winding up in the ocean, while this Nation is actually responsible for 5%, so who are they to get persnickety?

National Geographic did a phenomenal job (with an outstanding magazine cover) covering this issue.

For those whose neighborhoods are now in the Composting Program and using brown bins, paper products soiled with food are now supposed to be placed into the brown bin with organic waste.

Time to force everybody into re-education camps on this one. What next?

The article is about how we can better recycle. It has nothing to do with what country produces more plastic garbage. Our nation should lead the world in recycling and reducing the trash we produce.

Washing garbage uses water. So what's the advantage? Depleting the reservoirs to clean a tuna fish can?

And trees don't need saving. The American lumber industry keeps planting new trees all along.

Because we love american exceptionalism, we consider ourselves world leaders, and we should try to set good examples for the rest of the world? And because we have no business telling other countries to do stuff that we dont do ourselves? And maybe because everyone has to do their part to make the world a better place?

Seriously, thats some flawed logic right there.

Here goes Abella again. Pass any good laws lately? Visibility in the press gains him another Albany stint. It's nice that he takes on the issues but what's the bottom line?
Results! Don Quixote had great intentions too.

Ha! I'd like to see where the contents of all those brown bins get dumped. Half the time the machines that process the waste don't work so guess where it ends up going...

Notice all the deposit bottles being thrown into recycling bin?People are paying more for items and not bothering to redeem them thus the "can and bottle people" are making out big time going thru our garbage. We got a great recycling program in NY why should we be burdened with bring our cans and bottles back to the store.Repeal the Bottle Bill.

Where does the debris from washing garbage go? Eventually into the oceans that we're trying to protect? I just emptied an old container of orange juice down the drain and cleaned the (plastic) container, nice and clean for the recycling plant, and wondered the whole time how much the ocean life must not enjoy orange juice. It seems it gets to the ocean, only faster this way. Why must everything be in plastic now? The more we talk about plastic being bad, the more things are packaged in plastic. Instead of consumers being under attack, why not give an insentive to manufacturing plants to package in biodegradable packaging?

We have plenty of water. We have plenty of wood. What we don't have plenty of is space in landfills to put all our trash. Recycling cuts down considerably on how much we send to the dumps.

Fuck you DOS!
What are you doing about downtown Flushing businesses who are dumping garbage into the sewer system in the early morning hours?
Hmmm....,nothing. We do not want to offend anyone! Especially when Peter Koo gets kickbacks from these businesses. May I ask a stupid question?
Why is CB7 still in existence...to play their fog government games?

Private carters sort automatically by shredding, scrubbing and floating.

Meh...I've seen some sani crews just dump EVERYTHING into the back of the same truck, when they're running late or under-manned or whatever.

Way to waste all the time I spent rinsing and sorting.

Just buy less crap, re-use the crap you already have, donate the still-decent crap you don't use as much anymore.

The City makes a pretty penny off of your efforts anyway, remember anything you put out on the walks BECOMES THEIR PROPERTY. No wonder they cry so much over little asian ladies "stealing" their cans..HAHAH..I'd rather they take it than the City.
