Does Joe Crowley really believe his own bullshit? (part 2)

Above is a link to the debate between Joe Crowley, 20 year incumbent, and newcomer Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

During this debate, a stuttering Crowley was so nervous that he used the term "meat & butter" instead of "meat & potatoes" or "bread & butter", which is what it appeared he was trying to say.

He repeatedly lied about living in Woodside, and said his family lives in Virginia because raising a family was "hard". (Her comeback on this was priceless.)

He's head and shoulders above anyone else because he grew up in Woodside, because it's so diverse! (Yet when he grew up there, it was like 85% Irish.)

He also claims that the controversial Jackson Heights project that he and his puppets Katz & Moya supported against the wishes of the community was approved by the community board, when it actually went down in flames there.

He also has convinced himself that he has a history of electing "progressive" candidates although he supported the likes of Christine Quinn and Paul Vallone and had several non-compete agreements with Republicans.

I'll tell you right now that the lady came out looking like a champ in this one, with well thought out responses and revealing a distinct platform.

The Queens Machine boss then doubled down on his BS by skipping out on a debate in the Bronx. From City & State:

At a congressional primary debate between Rep. Joseph Crowley and his Democratic challenger Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, there was a notable absence: Crowley.

The debate, hosted by The Parkchester Times in the Bronx and moderated by reporter Robert Press, instead featured a surrogate on the part of Crowley. Debating Ocasio-Cortez in his place was former New York City Councilwoman Annabel Palma.

Palma, who was term-limited out of office at the end of 2017, now serves as the deputy commissioner of strategic initiatives at the city Department of Social Services. She was ranked by City & State as one of the five worst city councilmembers in 2016.

According to journalist Robert Press, who moderated the debate, Palma began discussing her record as a New York City councilwoman. Press said he had to remind her that she was there to represent Crowley and discuss congressional issues. Palma told City & State that she focused on her joint work with Crowley while she was in the City Council and what she witnessed him doing for her community.

Was his cousin Elizabeth too busy for this? Or did he just want one of his Hispanic minions to represent him in a debate against another Hispanic person? Whatever the case is, it speaks volumes about the type of elected this guy is if nothing else we have brought you does.

In this debate, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez kicked dullard Crowley's ass. I hope that the voter's in this district see him for the piece of crap that he is and vote against him.

He look real nervous.
I just sent her a check and I don’t live in the district, then again neither does Crawley.

He's a dunce.

He can't sing or play the guitar.
He is a liar.
Get rid of him.

You know what Joe's biggest bullshit was, besides accusing Ms. Ocasio-Cortez of being an advocate for selling military assault weapons and bumpstocks, was when he thanked her for participating in the debate. She was the one who challenged him! And the DNC had to force him to show up because she was getting national attention on social media with her great campaign ad and persistent coverage from one of the few muckraking journalism websites, The Intercept.

Now he sends a flunky, Spanish of course, to the Bronx to speak for him? (Not only just a flunky but an actual city employee in de Faustio's administrtaion, but that's just redundant, she's still a flunky but for the mayor's rotten fauxgressive agenda) I have never heard of anything like this, but it's obvious Joe has no support in that part of the district.

This may be premature, but he is going down, and if he does, there may be a sliver of hope for true reform in DC and this city, which certainly has the gentrification industrial complex shitting in their skivvies being that the Bronx is now targeted for hyperdevelopment and market rate rental fabrication/speculation. If not then this bald asshole will make certain there is absolutely no progress for the working poor, middle class and even scared immigrants in the process to get citizenship in this city and nation and more perks and profits for his dumb ass self.

Not for nothing though, Ocasio-Cortez was mostly raised not in the district but in Yorktown for the same reason Crowley moved his family to Virginia: better schools. She should not have "gone there" in the debate with that in her own background.

The abolition of ICE? Is she on drugs? Yes, go ahead Cortez, have 1/2 of your citizens killed by ms13.

Thank goodness I dont live in their county. Ones a liar and the other wants to get rid of ICE....what shitty candidates.

And 70 percent of the drugs come from outside the country....from Mexico but yet you want to take away guns but don't want to protect the border? How does that work? Drugs are killing more people in this country than guns is these days.

Anonymous said...

Do we know if him and dizzy lizzy are even on speaking terms anymore? They had that epic falling out around 2011.

Anyway, even if you don't like Ocasio Cortez's complete platform - it is clear that she would actually fight for this district. If not, she can be voted out next time. Decapitating the Queens Machine would be a victory for literally everyone in the long term.

I'll say it again:

The debate is basically between two progressives trying to outdo each other in their Leftist agendas.

They are two sides of a worthless coin because their basic ideology is proven to be failed;
progressive/socialism does not work because at its base is the assumption that humans will work together willingly in a hive like fashion towards the dream of Utopia.
In practical terms this removes what we've learned from the past 200 years of human psychology and actual failed nations, that the human will is varied and complex. Some work for gain, some will not. Some cooperate for the benefit of others while some prey on the gullibility of others, some want to improve the planet while others what to set the world on fire.

Once Democrats understand that the best way to motivate humans is through a system which encourages their individual output by way of their own dreams (capitalism), then they will come to terms with the circular and flawed logic of their political ideology.

Crowley has nothing to offer but fear mongering and race-baiting with an acute case of Trump Derangement Syndrome.
That weird grimace on his face after answering questions is characteristic of this type of permanent indigestion that goes with the constant pandering to constituents who he believes are in perpetual need of his attention for their salvation.

Ocasio is basically an educated millennial who has swallowed the whole progressive stupidity hook, line and sinker. She would do well in Venezuela.

She's for tuition-free college, as if there aren't already such things as scholarships, community colleges, city colleges with only the minimal of financing needed, NY state TAP grants, Federal PELL grants, the list goes on.
Of course the idea of working your way through college has never occurred to the Progressives who believe that money just grows on trees and motivation gained through hard work is an abstraction on the way to Utopia.

She states proudly that she's being endorsed by the Democratic Socialists of America...natch. Remember Hugo Chavez's party was the Democratic Socialists, you can't make this crap up.

The Democratic Socialists are NOT the party of Hugo Chavez - they are Bernie supporters and, when it's in the interest of the Democratic Party, they will take their support as well:

https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/democratic-socialists-america-bernie-sanders_us_591dd25ee4b03b485caf9243

In fact, in most democratic nations around the world, the Social Democrats or Democratic Socialists have been a mainstream party, usually in coalition with other parties in various parliaments. And, at the beginning of the 20th century, they were tied extensively to the labor movement in the U.S. and members won scores of elections, mostly local (including in NYC).

Based on Crowley's miserable and corrupt record, I give Ocasio a 50/50 chance of getting him outta there...I wish her luck.

College at least, is required for all good jobs now. The cost of good colleges is so high , it's out of reach for many people. Saying "work your way through college", when college is $$50K a year is a bit dumb. Many kids do work their way through college, to pay for books and food. That doesn't do a lot for the tuition. They leave with debt higher than a house.

>>Of course the idea of working your way through college has never occurred to the >>Progressives

I'm not knocking capitalism but money controls the government now. The government is suppose to help the people not have laws written by companies protecting their market share.

Real estate, rent and college tuition are so high now, compared to salaries that if you are not in the top 10% of earnings the entire system works against you.

Free college for NYC residents is a great way to get the most vulnerable kids into better jobs.

Good point, but remember: it was a razor thin margin, and you're talking about the general election, not a primary. Ocasio-Cortez is going to hang it up if she doesn't get the nomination. If she were smart, she'd have gone Republican for pragmatic reasons to have the money and time to build a real opposition, and have posed a solid challenge.

Hugo Chavez was indeed part of a long line of "Democratic Socialists" in Venezuela.
Please do not attempt the same dissembling techniques all Socialists use in order to get into power (learning from Marx and Saul Alinsky).
Call something for what it is:

https://panampost.com/guillermo-rodriguez/2017/01/15/how-democratic-socialism-paved-venezuela-misery/?cn-reloaded=1

Ocasio, while better than the conniving, party hack Crowley, is still just another
garden variety Social Democrat looking to gain power by appealing to the perceived needs of our society.
...and I do mean perceived because even the poorest of Americans still have more food, more living space and more freedoms than the average middle class European. Look this up under a Heritage Foundation study using the 2010 Census results.
I'm not making this up, you will be astounded by what the average "poor" American has compared to the actual poor in the rest of the world.

Try concentrating your efforts on getting rid of the scourge of Left-leaning Democrats attempting to undo 200 years of American growth.
The Mellenial generation is officially the first generation in American history aiming to do WORSE than the generation before them and with a lower life expectancy.

"Chavez' party is the Partido Socialista Unido - The United Socialist Party."

I know it's fashionable for the Bernie Sanders contingent to distance itself from the idea of democratic socialism as implemented in Venezuela, but the very definition of Democratic Socialism is a socialist system enacted through democratic elections.

Sanders top advisor, Cornel West, is a well known supporter of the Venezuelan regime and so are the Democratic Socialists of America...those same individuals who Ocasio so proudly proclaims support her. Furthermore, Democratic Socialists of America are an affiliate group of Socialist International.

Chavez got into power through a nominally "Democratic" system of elections and his Chavistas continued to be elected on their Socialist platform of wealth redistribution.

We can play word games all night but we all know the truth about Socialism as a system and its abject failures time and again. We also know that Leftists use terms interchangeably in an attempt to hide their motives...socialist yesterday, democratic socialist today, progressives tomorrow.

Democratic Socialists are Socialists looking to implement a system of collective ownership and redistribution through Democratic elections.

Chavez was a Socialist who implemented a system of collective ownership and redistribution through Democratic elections.

Ergo. Chavez's party and Venezuela's failure is the failure of Democratic Socialism.

I would rather vote Crowley than Oscasio-Cortez, he is not as much of a socialist than she is.

Many Democrats show no facial expressions or sense of humor, like Mika on Morning Joe and our friend Crowley, I wonder why that is.

Eventually, more candidates like Ocasio-Cortez will be elected and they will push for the banishment of ICE and detention centers in NYC as a whole.

Much like the Southern Democrats used states’ rights as a reason to retain slavery before the Civil War. The Democrats are up to it again in the North and out West. They love the cheap Hispanic labor, just like the Southerners fought tooth and nail for African-American free labor. The difference today is that the American tax payer subsidizes the Hispanic labor while record amounts of cash is sent back to Mexico, Central and South America.

At least the slave owners were responsible for housing and feeding their workers. The construction companies, hotels, restaurants, etc. should be responsible to do the same today as Pew Research indicates that a majority of illegal immigrants are on some sort of public assistance. We are paying for our own replacements so that businesses can get richer and Democrats can achieve one-party rule.

Lyndon B. Johnson said it best, “if we [Southern Democrats] pass Civil Rights, the blacks will be voting for us for a century.” I suppose the Democrats are not so focused on the African-American community as it is Yrumo whose putting everybody back to work so their focus now is to lock up the Hispanic vote. It didn’t work as planned in Florida but seems to be working beautifully in NYC and Los Angeles.

My whole rants is now considered hate speech and I will be subject to imprisinment or even death in the future as the Democratic Party takes a strangle hold on the nation. Expect more neighborhoods like South Chicago and East LA while the liberals get richer with lobbyist money (take a look at Cory Booker). They will blame it on the white and Asian man, guns and conservatives as they look for the next disadvantaged community to rack up the votes.

....same difference

You don't seem to get the gist of it, the Partido Socialista Unido can translate into English as the Democratic Socialist Party just as surely as the Democratic Socialists of America are an affiliate of Socialist International.

No matter how much you want to play word games and semantics, the gig is up, it's all the same groupthink of wealth redistribution at the expense of American ideals and the standard of living we have developed over two centuries.

Amazing you're saying this when you're the one trying to push a false equivalence. Chavazismos don't care about elections, as is plain to see from watch Venezuela right now, and their attempts to depower their equivalent of Congress now that the people are starving and their party is losing elections.

Harry Haller, I have to agree with you. I don’t know why they’re aren’t middle of the road candidates that don’t want to tax the middle class to death. No one who believes in free college can explain how schools won’t increase the tuition they charge.

Sunnyside Al, Whites are always blamed especially white males. Asians get attacked on this forum by whites all the time. Strange you’re claiming whites and Asians are being blamed but it’s true as Asians are always being caught in the middle. I’m glad Harvard is getting taken to task with the lawsuit against them for discriminating against Asians. Then you have DeBlasio wanting the specialized high schools open through quotas.

LOL

False Equivalence:

Democratic Socialism = socialism instituted through democratic elections (as opposed to revolutionary socialism)

Hugo Chavez was elected in a nominally democratic election running on a Socialist Platform by pandering to the poor and dispossessed while demonizing corporations, the middle class and capitalism.

Therefore: Hugo Chavez = Democratic Socialism in action and was a Democratic Socialist by definition.
(...but of course the Left in America doesn't want anyone to know this, especially Sanders supporters!)

Additionally,
Hugo Chavez and his successor Maduro are admired by the Democratic Socialists of America. Furthermore, Democratic Socialists of America are an affiliate of Socialist International and Bernie Sanders key advisor, Cornel West, is an avowed admirer of Hugo Chavez.
In other words, it's all the same thing in the end. They are all "fellow travelers".

What exactly am I missing here?
It's like saying Trump is not part of the Right Wing because he's actually elected as a Republican under the banner of the Republican party, not the "Right Wing" party. He's defending Right to Life and the NRA but you can't say he's part of the Right Wing.

...is everyone else here beginning to see the logic here?

Now, as most who study history know, leftist regimes always start off by telling everyone they're for "democracy" and "free elections" and "easy socialism", until it's convenient to get rid of those who voted them in. Over time these people have come to be known as "useful idiots".

When you speak about Chavistas not caring about elections, that's the ultimate point here.
That a rose by any other name is still a rose, and socialism by any other name, be it democratic socialism, progressivism or united socialist party, ends with the subjugation of the masses and oppression.

Nancy Reagan (fixed it for you), familiarize yourself with Lyndon B. Johnson’s (D-TX) temperament (very crass and frank). He is on record for referring to the Civil Rights Act of 1957 as “the N$&*#r bill” and using the N word on a regular basis (Refer to the MSNBC link at the bottom of this comment). JFK took him as Vice President to convince Southern Democrats to vote for the Civil Rights Act/Voting Act of 1964 (Reupublicans were already on board). Robert F. Kennedy resigned as Attorney General after his brother’s assassination because he personally couldn’t stand LBJ’s attitude. Why do you think LBJ wouldn’t accept the nomination in 1968? The party couldn’t stand LBJ either, being from Texas with a profound accent, he wasn’t as polished as the New England Kennedy dynasty.

My observation on lack of facial expressions and sense of humor is an opinion. Are we allowed to have differing opinions anymore? Or is it asinine because you don’t agree with it?

We get nowhere arguing liberal vs. conservative policy when the nation as a whole has problems to solve.
