Rosedale flooding is out of control

From PIX11:

For almost 20 years, every time it rains really hard, the street in front of Angela Dennis's home turns into a lake of rainwater, eight inches at its deepest, spilling over onto the sidewalks on 148th Avenue, just off of Francis Lewis Boulevard.

The flooding damages cars, sidewalks and on weekdays the X 63 bus can't get through.

Seniors in the neighborhood have a particularly tough time.

Self-described community activist Carl Patterson is so frustrated with the NYC Department of Environmental Protection and their community affairs coordinator Karen Ellis.

"They sawed a cut in the middle, but they didn't' come back to finish the job," Patterson said. "It's been three years. This is a quality of life issue."

Neighbors say the city started the make repairs and then abandoned the project and abandoned these folks who say they just don't want a swimming pool in front of their homes.

This cannot be the fault of the City nor the wonderful administration!

Therefore it must be global warming, we never had significant rain in years past.

We must all abandon our cars and use bicycles.

I now understand why all the bike lanes are such a necessity...

First several shootings and killings in Rosedale on Mother’s Day and now massive flooding.

Just another BAD quality of life issue that this fucked up city just will not take care of. I wonder if it was a very white neighborhood, how the city would react to this.

Some liberal mayor we have, I mean you would think the least he can do is pick up the fucking phone, talk to yet another awful city agency, this one, NYC Department of Environmental Protection, and say FIX THE FUCKING PROBLEM RIGHT NOW.

BUT if it was some illegal immigrant who committed a crime, the Mayor would be all over the press saying, “we protect our undocumented immigrants”. AND speaking of this awful mayor and major liar and just like Trump, alternative facts, Mayor Corrupt was caught in a BIG LIE, concerning his favorite topic, ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS (http://www.ny1.com/nyc/all-boroughs/news/2017/05/14/us-citizenship-and-immigration-services-officials-at-queens-school.html). BUT hard working tax payers in Rosedale, get SHIT with this Mayor and administrator. I guess the only way you get his attention if you are an “illegal immigrant” or “homeless” and you hit the lottery if you are a “homeless illegal immigrant”.

Many of us, have to start to ask ourselves this question:

“Why do we continue to live in an outrageously expensive, over-crowded, over developed city with the worst subways system in the world and with the worst quality of life issues in the country, all the while paying the highest taxes.”

I think we need to keep asking ourselves that……………………………………….and then get the fuck out of this third world country of a city.

The inconvenient truth is that flooding in these areas will only increase in the next 100 years. For several reasons. There is no way to stop it. No one should be living here anymore without that expectation.

The mayor will soon create a committee to study the feasibility of boat lanes in this area.

Who cares? Only unimportant people live here! Not like it's Park Slope or anything......

The only way Rosedale gets saved if it gets featured as a hot neighborhood in the NY times style and real estate sections, or on those propaganda apt listings blogs.

As for the question Mr. Moretti generously posited for us, the people that matter most to these elected officials and their donor overlords (REBNY and the wormtongued collective of lobbyists), the hipshits and tourists, don't give a crap and don't say a damn thing, because they spend money like idiots, they don't protest and swallow what's dealt them and they move somewhere else and do the same thing over again until the they are told about the next hot neighborhood and the latter are just visitors gawking at the prevailing nonsense around them. You know something, it's like they come here just to experience the chaos the natives here deal with every god damn day.

And more hotels are being built for this reason. Under Mayor Big Slow De Faustio the hotel pestilence accelerated.

While Rosedale still suffers from criminal negligence of services they pay for. 20 years of flooding ignored by 2 years of Giuliani, 12 years of Mayor Fun Size, and 3 tormenting years of a fauxgressive bag of dicks and shit whose ideals and sympathies allegedly are with the kind of folks that live there.

Two decades of betrayal. The only effort the city displayed for this town apparently is trying to drown it to discourage people from living there.

Recent stories about homeowners being denied build it back funding and the ddomed homeowners of Edgemere should also serve as an example of the ill motives of this administration.

its also inconvenient that the city's sea level rose 2" over that last 10 years
NOT 20FEET LIKE ALGORE PREDICTED
he's just like the weathermen, he just don't know

Do they have bioswales yet? This was a problem for them for years. Someone should be held accountable for this. Poor construction and poor planning.

And lets bet their property taxes have gone up ten fold. Dam shame what are these people paying for in Rosedale, makes no sense.
