Library sues Galante

From the Daily News:

The ex-CEO of the Queens Library expensed books he bought on Amazon for his Kindle, the library says in court papers.

The library filed the complaint about Thomas Galante in a countersuit to recover hundreds of thousands of dollars in personal expenses and legal fees it forked over to the ousted executive, the Daily News has learned.

In the scathing answer to Galante's breach-of-contract suit demanding $2.2 million in severance pay, the Queens Library seeks more than $200,000 in questionable expenses from 2009 to 2014.

Thomas Galante sits on the board meeting briefly before leaving for the evening. He was later voted on Administrative Leave with pay, September 11, 2014.
In addition, the library wants Galante to return $260,715 it paid to his attorneys after he and his consulting company were slapped with subpoenas by the Brooklyn U.S. attorney’s office.

This POS is responsible for my local library branch's renovation being stalled for 2 years, and me having to use either a postage stamp sized storefront they rented as a "temporary" library or run all over Queens for books. They should suck him dry of all his money and boot him out of town. Why was there no oversight over this pile of fecal matter's activities?

Does anyone even need, use, or go to a library anymore?

Even the CEO who should support and lead by example is downloading books from Amazon...

This man is a product of Queens septic culture. Look at that board - movers and shakers of the borough that were politically asked to step down and were replaced with exactly the same type of people.

Oh how I hope this guy squeals on the whole damn lot of them.

Galante's financial shenanigans go back to 1987. In Peter Benjaminson's 1997 book about the NYC Department of Investigation (Secret Police), he describes the DOI's
attempts to open the Queens Library's financial records when they learned that all overdue fees and fines went into a "slush fund" between 1987 and 1992 - the slush fund was used for lavish spending on perks for members of the Queens Library's Board of Trustees. Whom, you might ask, had been hired to be the library's Director of Finance in 1987, when this practice began? Tom Galante, of course. The chickens have finally come home to roost for Teflon Tom...

Throw the book at him already!

The NYC tax payer demands it's money back. you wanna run a library then go to your tiny village in long Island and ask for a job !!

He should be in jail for 25 years.

Galante didn't do this all by his lonesome. Find the nest of rats. maybe Galante will sing.

this is not a Tom problem, its a problem across the board of the caliber of people leading this borough. this man did not spring up out of the blue - not should he be made the fall guy for a place that spends a million on a dog run and $15 million to plug up a hole on the bottom of a diving platform.

Why not? He got caught misusing public funds. He should get the same deal as everyone else: reduced penalty or even immunity if you squeal, or else let him play the odds with how strong he thinks his connections are among the higher-ups. Shirley Huntley picked the former, John Liu's flunkies picked the latter. He's no different - let him choose.

There isn't a photo out there without a self-satisfied smug look on his dickface.

It's a tragedy that he's not in prison. He is a career criminal. But as with all services and elected offices, the corruption is too entrenched and those who get the opportunity to hold those positions just can't help themselves and their greed and arrogance has no satiety.

UNLESS YOU GO AFTER THE TRUSTEES WHO ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS MAN HE SHOULD GET THE SAME TREATMENT AS THEY - OFF WITH 'NO COMMENT - NOTHING TO SEE HERE FOLKS - GO HOME'

EVERYONE IN QUEENS IS DISGUSTED THAT THOSE PEOPLE WERE GIVEN A FREE PASS - BECAUSE OF THEIR CONNECTIONS?

can anyone find out why the Chinese and Caribbean immigrants are getting jobs at the Queens Boro Public Library but not Americans?

was this man charged and convicted in a court ?Why is he being convicted by local news and Dem Pols only? All citizens are innocent until proven guilty by the judicial process.

The NYC D.O.E. has a budget of about $23 BILLION/YR. Why are pupils failing to graduate 65 % of the time ?Why are NEW elem. schools being built in Bayside for 600,when other local school bldgs. are seating bused in pupils from outside & S.E. (7/ROOM)are bused in to occupy 200 seat floors ,with 30 S.E. pupils?

Could a Union be calling the shots ,with your tax $$$$$$....ALL WASTE
