Great job on your part Crappy for spreading the word about this.

The DOB needs an overhaul and should be allowed by law, access and to not be turned away or refused access to houses or apartments where there are complaints.

Where is the press conference by the media hogging pols?

Their mistake was to advertise in english.

Wow - once again, NOTHING gets done until it's posted on QC!

Those realtors should lose thier licenses for advertising this illegal property! And they had to nerve to write that the front yard could be converted to parking!!!!

They should be fired just for spelling hallway as wholeway alone!!!

So glad I moved away - NYC's greatness exists in my memories!

:) :) :) KEEP IT UP !!

The question is, how many hundreds more of these are out there in plain site, advertised for everyone in the galaxy to see, and potentially stop?

"The DOB needs an overhaul and should be allowed by law, access and to not be turned away or refused access to houses or apartments where there are complaints." With a court order only.

We did LOTS of work since we saw this on Sat 2/20 to get this done! Myself & many people from a Flushing FB group banded together & called NYC's 311 hotline at the same time! Those of us out of area called 212-NEW-YORK. All our calls at one time is what got their attention! And they took action FAST after all our calls on Saturday!! It shows you CAN fight CITY HALL in numbers. If anyone sees more homes like this call as a group of as many people as you can get! And have everyone of you call at the same time!! Flood them with calls!! It worked in this case! And it can work AGAIN!! We had people from as far away as California calling!! In this case it proves...you do not even have to live locally to make a difference! The power of SOCIAL MEDIA can work for great thongs sometimes! I did not even know most of the people I asked to do this with me! Most live pretty far away now..but like many of us still love FLUSHING!

This is great news but barely touches the problem we have in Flushing with illegal living situations. Our elected officials must step it up and get legislation passed that will allow the various agencies to gain access to these houses and protect the people who live in them as well as the neighbors. This house was running on electrical cords. That's huge fire waiting to happen. If you look on the DOB website you will seed the neighbors have been complaining about that house since 2005. The inspectors go a couple of times and if no one lets them in the complaint is closed. That is grossly unacceptable! The reason these brokers have become so brazen is because they all get away with it.

Ever see who they have working at the DOB? All Third World immigrants!

The weekly newspaper referred to the Buildings Marshal's Office doing an inspection - is that a different office from the inspectors who visit twice and, if denied entry, just close the case? Does this office have more authority than the other inspectors? If so, why can't they use that authority MORE OFTEN?

What's the link to flushing FB group?

Janet McCreesh

That is why we did what we did in the manner to which I explained above. They do NOT listen is correct! But they HAD to listen to 200 phone from me & my group of many people that called at the same time! Maybe that system will work again! Can't hurt to try. If you know of a home like this do what we did! Band a group of concerned citizens & call 311 at the same time that might work the way this one did for us as a group!Forget counting on our elected officials! As they have consistently failed us for years & years in so many matters. Our method proves it works the way we did it..so it is well worth trying again! It is the ad that idiot broker placed that really FRIED them for this one! As soon as I saw that I knew they would have to do something right away!

Well done Crappy and Anonymous!
People cry racism when is about law and safety.
Fires and gas lines don't mix!
Also houses nearby are in danger if something happens.
City officials, politicians better start realizing there is a problem here and start enforcing code and law.
If something does happen, they will be liable.

@Janet
Absolutely. When there are dozens of complaints for same addresses and something needs to be done.
People misunderstand the situation.
Is not about invading your house, privacy, but when real problems exist and complaints are filed there is a reason for them.
DOB inspectors are lackadaisical as is it with numerous complaints for the same address, do you really think they will break down your door for nothing?

Thanks for the good advice. My neighbor across the street has been doing a lot of construction work in her attic. I thinks she wants to rent out rooms like she does in her basement will keep calling 311 to complain maybe something can be done.

Our primary elected official, council member Paul Vallone ,
isn't doing much about anything that is affecting the downgrading of the quality of life in his district.
He's a developer's lobbyist. So how much time is he willing to devote to measures that will adversely affect their interests?
He is on THEIR side not OURS!
Vote the traitor out!

Has everyone seen the movie "Spotlight"?
A very strong spotlight has to be shone on the crooked DOB and an awful lot of our shady elected officials.
Maybe BFHA should run an occasional ad in the weekly press stating "Don't dare tread on us".
Less tea parties and garden judging contests and more extremely visible action.
One prominent ad is worth a hundred social events.

BFHA has shown itself to be not a very good friend of neighboring civic associations by giving their approval to Paul Vallone's bogus measure to register Rickert Finlay property deed restrictions with the Dept. Of Finance. The other civics had the moxie to express their discontent with it. BFHA just played their usual game of footsie.

Chooch Vallone's bill IS NOT even a bill...just a change in procedure that cannot be enforced by law of it were a real bill.

Vallone is one of the most thuggish self serving politicos to emerge in recent years. Yet he smiles, attends St. Andrews functions and the BFHA church lady hostesses think that he is a doll.

Wake up you insular fools. Your neighborhood will be eviserated within four years in Don Vallone's mafioso hands.

So where was Vallone whe needed here?
Can anybody ever find Waldo?

Stinky is busy with his day job of being a lawyer $$$$ No time for the silly people

Our primary elected official, council member Paul Vallone

He needs to be unelected ASAP.

Dump Don Chooch Vallone!
This dynastic family of political mobsters is exactly what is wrong with Queens.
Another political dynasty is the Stavisky mob.
Some good advice...vote out all incumbents.
A free flowing stream is the only guarantee against stinky stagnant pools of water gathering.
Getting rid of "stinky" Vallone should be the district's top priority.
But BFHA will continue to kiss his ass until that soft boiled egg , Robert Hanophy, is also dumped as its president.

Anonymous said...

We think you hit a point, last commentor.
Hanophy cannot adequately handle two jobs adequately at one time....
being an ADA and BFHA president.
He is hamstrung by his position with Richard Brown's office.
He must muzzle his mouth, lest it interfere with his employment there.

Get these fucking people out of office.
