Judicial races are likely all that you'll vote for this year

From the Times Ledger:

Three county Supreme Court justice seats and three Civil Court justice seats are up for grabs on Election Day next Tuesday, with Queens District Attorney Richard Brown also seeking re-election to what would be his sixth-consecutive full term.

All registered Queens voters will be eligible to vote in any three of the races, but most of the votes will likely be cast in eastern and southeast Queens, where off-year Assembly and City Council races are going to get the greatest turnout.

Should you care enough about the judicial races to go out and vote tomorrow, the Ledger has a decent rundown of who's in each race.

What better time to start a petition drive to reform the elections process?

As they say in the president's home town of Chicago:

"Vote early and vote OFTEN"...

You read my mind, Crappy - I was just wondering who, if anybody, was running for anything tomorrow and if I should bother voting. I even went to the BOE website to see if I could find a sample ballot for my district, but didn't see anything. Had Vallone been on the ballot, I'd definitely go in order to vote against him. But I don't think there's anything of consequence to vote on tomorrow. Richard Brown? Unopposed.

How many of those judges are running either unopposed or on multiple party lines?

There is no democracy in Queens County. Why should Peter Vallone be given a judgeship by being on multiple lines? Does the fact that his father was ex-Councilman Peter Vallone have anything to do with this. I remember when Kerry Katsorhis, a Republican, was running for Queens District Attorney, and tried to meet people at a civic association meeting being run by Peter Vallone, Peter Vallone refused to allow him to be heard at the meeting, on the ground that there was to be no politicking at the meeting. What a load of crap. I guess it's okay though to have his son endorsed by all parties for a judgeship. What about Gerard Sweeney, lawyer for Tom Manton, deceased, former Democratic Chief, being made counsel to the Public Administrator. Can anyone guess what Sweeney pulls in from the public teat? You'd be surprised, if you had the capacity to be surprised. Why should Michael Reich have the ability to dictate who becomes a public official in Queens? Does he even live in Queens? If I remember correctly, he is an insulting, pompous, arrogant party official who only wants to keep power in Democrat hands, whether in the public interest or not, to keep the coffers full. If the people cared to know how much money was being paid in salaries to Democrat officials, friends, and family members, they would be shocked, if they had the capacity to be shocked. This modus operandi is not only limited to Democrats. Just take a look at the careers of Serphin Maltese and Thomas Ognibene (may he rest in peace). They had no qualms about destroying people and reputations in their ruthless quest for power. I've seen it up close. What a disgrace. And then you wonder why Queens is down the toilet.

Reminder: In races like this, the fact that you voted matters more than who you vote for.

Politicians pay attention to which neighborhoods and demographics vote, especially in smaller elections, and pay closer attention to them.
