Spraying scheduled for this week

From NY1:

The city's Health Department has said it will begin spraying for West Nile virus next week in parts of Staten Island, Queens and the Bronx.

Officials say the disease has NOT been detected in the city yet this year, but they're working to reduce the number of mosquitoes and minimize the risk.

Crews will spray non-chemical larvacide on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. weather permitting.

In bad weather it will be delayed to Thursday, Friday and next Monday.

In Queens, larvacide will be spread in Linden Hill, College Point and Edgemere.

Cancer anyone?

It's now been proven that Monsanto's Roundup causes autism.

Why the fuck do residents allow cancerous chemicals to be sprayed in our neighborhoods?

This is an example of the chemical companies dictating policy to our corrupt, narrow-minded politicians - similar to fluoride in our water - another chemical linked to modern-day illnesses such as Hashimoto's (autoimmune thyroid disorder).

Soon there will only be one business left in this country (esp. in unhealthy NYC) - the medical industrial complex - and it isn't the health business!!

Oh yeah - and educating the unnecessary spawn of our "vibrant and diverse" Third World ghetto slobs (go Joe!)

Good morning - lol!

Who proofreads this stuff?

I agree that there are arguments against indiscriminate spraying of pesticides in the city. Having said that, we need to have some facts when we write our opinions...
Where is a legitimate scientific reference connecting Monsanto's Roundup and autism?
Is this the same science that falsely links vaccination and autism or fluoride in water and bone cancer?
Making up scientific findings doesn't help anyone's cause.

Perhaps they want to kill all the white people that live near the water to make room for the new.
Why aren't they spraying the marshlands in the Bronx under the bridges or that HUGE mosquito bog called N Brother Island ?

Chemical:
As far as I remember "Monsanto's Roundup" is simply concentrated organic herbicide for plants.
Pyrethrum for bugs is also organic and safe. (flowerhead of the Chrysanthemum plant)
pyrethrins are six esters found within the pyrethrum extract. They work by shutting down insects (and only insects) nervous systems by OD-ing them.

West Nile mosquito are really bad news, they are small agile fast flyers that can bite multiple times including multiple people in seconds apart in daytime broad sunlight.

Linden Hill? Linden Hill? I've lived in Queens all of my life and - gotta be honest here - I never, ever heard of a Linden Hill until now. Have you dear reader? I vote Linden Hill "The Most Arcane Neighborhood in the Borough of Queens".

I know, I know. I had to look in Wikipedia myself. Fact is before this QCrap mention, I never heard of Linden Hill. Be honest. Neither have you. I dont believe that many of the people that live in Linden Hill have ever even heard of Linden Hill.

Actually, I have, although I associate the name more with the cemetery in Ridgewood.
