Flushing's temple of trash

Re: Shree Swamanaryian Mandir, 43-38 Bowne St, Flushing

With summer approaching please explain how we get the city to do something about this garbage ! I've contacted Avella's office. This temple puts out between 50 and 100 bags of garbage a week and this spew from the bags as the garbage men put them in the garbage truck. These photos show three different spots on our block this crap has spewed ! Looks like a dinosaur threw up. Thank you. Anonymous

Queens: Vibrant. Diverse.

And just think, summer is about to begin here in a place that "makes its own gravy".

That's the kind of crap that "denser neighborhoods" brings!

How dare you complain about the actions of a member of our vibrant and diverse community!

Don't forget to blame the DSNY emps.

They barely turn the pails over anymore and then throw them into the streets still 1/3 full of garbage. At least that's what they do in North Flushing!

Enough with these lifer jobs. The public should be filling out evaluations for all the city emps every year.

Good benefits and job security should be accompanied by a hefty performance price tag!

We need more of a meritocracy for these city jobs!

I live right around the corner of this and see it every single week for the past 6 years. I walk over the spot seen in the last picture every week taking my kid to school.

It's disgusting.

The stench is horrendous. The sight is unpleasant and nausea inducing.

Blame is not only on the temple and apartment building seen in the last pic, but the garbage men themselves. They just chuck the trash in, throwing garbage buckets back into the sidewalks. Missed garbage? They just leave it. It moves to the streets, sidewalks, lawns, fences, etc.

The temple appears to use low quality bags, as they tear easy. It's also piled high, usually 2-3 bags high. And if I'm not mistaken, it's not just one spot but 2 for their pickup.

I've seen nothing done about this, and curious what Avella will do. I'm betting nothing.

Welcome to Flushing, garbage dump of Queens!

I believe the Temple is in Toby's district, not Tony's.

There are so many to blame for this. Of course the culprits who do this, the city for allowing neighborhoods to be so overdeveloped and packed without proper infrastructure, elected leaders (council members) for not being on top of this, DOS for not enforcing laws enough, DOS employees who do not clean up after this shit. Plenty of blame to go around.

This is Queens. Land of lawlessness and corrupt politicians who only care about their own self interests. Get used to it.

'Where is the beef?'

The Hindus are vegetarians, so no beef.
They do have a huge catering hall in the basement and it's kitchen cooks meals for hundreds of people during weekends. That's where all those garbage came from.

This is Tobys district, not Tony Avellas
