From Metro:
If you need the police, it may take them nine minutes to get to you, the longest the wait time has been since 2003.
That’s the new average response time in the Mayor’s Management Report, which was released Wednesday.
The average response time of 2012 was 9.1 minutes, according to the report.
Not only is that the longest the wait time has been since Mayor Michael
Bloomberg took office in 2002, it's also an increase from the 8.4
minutes it took officers to get to people calling for help in 2011.
The wait time has steadily been increasing every year: In 2007, it took officers 6.9 minutes on average.
Some officials are concerned that the slower response times are a sign that the police force is overwhelmed.

You've got it right, George.
Just remember, when the next few seconds will decide your fate, the police are just minutes away.
This doesn't apply to Maspeth. You only see the police if they make a wrong turn or are lost. If your car is stolen, they make you got to the 104 to file a report.
If Mayor Bloomberg thinks it's OK, how can we challenge him? Isn't he the best mayor? You bet your life! Bloomberg for a 4th term!!!
When seconds count, they are only minutes away
Overdevelopment = traffic = emergency service delays!
Any questions?
cRIME IS DOWN NOTHING TO SEE HERE MOVE ALONG NOW
Hire more cops! Rank and file is getting smaller by the day.
Thank the mayor. He seems to think one or two cars per tour in each precinct is adequate.
Very nice!
The average crime takes between 5 to 15 minutes
to complete.
I guess we should forget 911 and dial .357 instead!
BANG...gotcha!
Better to be tried by 12 good men,
than to be carried away by 6.
Or, if you like...
better a defendant than a deceased!
What a cop out!
Next time I call 911 my first words will be,
"Two dozen donuts to the first officer that arrives
on the scene".
We're with you George.
12 gauge double ought buck.
No need to aim carefully.
Crap!
Now the police will be monitoring
all of my Queens Crap posts.
Maybe if NYC cops weren't so overweight...stuffing donuts down their gullets...they could arrive at the scene faster.
Overwhelmed by excessive poundage is what they are!
Why all the anti cop posts ?
Did someone get a ticket and now has a beef ?
Or are you jealous of the great career path a young man or women took? Get a life people. When you are in trouble you will certainly call 911 and wait for NYPD like the rest of us.

The point of this post is the wait time for police response. How long must we wait for the 911 response? Duh!
We have a cop sucking troll that doesn't like any criticism of our corrupt, lazy, boys and girls in blue.
Uh....
wouldn't you all agree that unbridled and poorly planned OVER-DEVELOPMENT has been putting a strain on ALL of our public services...
schools, hospitals, emergency services, transportation, infrastructure?
YAWN....shall I continue the list?
